I been thinking about a few suggestions for the Skyblock Chat system, You can disagree or agree with me.

I feel that there should be some more Chat commands, But tell me if this cannot work because I am not a Dev

[Commands like]

• /start groupchat - Allows you to start a group chat
• /leave groupchat - Allows you to leave group chat
• /groupchat invite [playername] - Allows you to invite more people ( Must be group chat leader )
• /groupchat kick [playername] - Allows you to kick people ( Must be group chat leader )

The concept of this is to chat without typing /msg [Playername] And for you to talk to multiple people
Ex. If you are in a coop party and you want to talk to everyone about something private like the location of your island or a chest you can go on groupchat. Or you just don't want to have to /msg multiple people the same message.

You'd be surprised how many players have Skype. Not many have Teamspeak, on the other hand.
You will be able to ignore those request and Mods will have logs to any suspicious chats and Don't forget about [PwnFilter] I haven't seen a single person say a curse word I think hes doing a good job. And if you don't want to do groupchat then you will have the option to /ignore all forever!


Commands:
/groupchat <start|leave|invite|kick|toggle|spy|globaloff> [player]
start: Start a new groupchat.
leave: Leave the current groupchat.
invite: Invite a player, leader only.
kick: Kick a player, leader only.
toggle: Enable or disable groupchat requests.
spy: View groupchat messages. For sneaky people.
globaloff: Turns off global chat.

Permissions:
groupchat.use : /gc <start|leave|invite|kick>
groupchat.toggle : /gc toggle
groupchat.spy : /gc spy

As Lollipop said, this suggestion has been suggested and denied a lot.
Here's why:
-Someone's gonna have to write that plugin.
-Moderators would have to have the ability to see those chats, like they can see msg so they can moderate it.
-In my opinion, msg works fine, and you can use Teamspeak or Skype if you desperately want to have a group chat.

 

I think back in 1.2 or 1.3 there was a plugin and you can find it in really old suggestions, with the same commands. All you may need to do (correct me if I'm wrong) is update the plugin to use 1.8 bukkit or whatever it is.

It would most definitely require a new plugin, and it would need to be 100% compatible with the plugin / tags there already.

If you want to chat with just a small group, I'd recommend Hipchat for an in-browser chat, and teamspeak for a voice chat (as cheap as $5 a month!)

Updating a plugin from that far back would be more difficult than writing a completely new one. The minecraft protocol doesn't change every version, but had some serious groundbreaking changes since 1.2, in the 1.5-1.6 era (Introducing stateful protocol) as well as 1.7 (Introducing JSON based chat packets) and 1.8 (Introducing packet compression).

This would improve so much.. the chat is a jumbled mess most of the time. It's either green or a mix of obnoxious colors. Maybe this has been denied before, but suggesting it can't hurt. I'll probably make my own suggestion; I'll give you credit for inspiring it.

The server already has a teamspeak server, skyblock.teamspeak3.com.

 

The excuse that it someone needs to write one is dumb. We have a developer and the server is based on plugins. I'm sure there's a chat plugin that is similar to this anyways.
I think this'd be nice. Since it'd help people who want to chat in a group but cannot use Skype, TeamSpeak, etc. and since /msg only is one on on.
