    Acceptable everywhere
-Sprint - Useless, but that doesn't mean it's harmless. -umm yeah it helps if you have a huge island
    -NoRender - Also useless. ^
-Day - Essentially nightvision, useless. ^-it is useful considering at warp mob its impossible to see anything
-Waypoints - There are many mods which act the same. -skyblock doesnt feature mods and it will crash the client if you try to connect
    -AutoWalk - Useless.
-Derp - Useless, but VERY hilarious
-Sneak (No packet mode) - Useless.
    -X-Ray - Useless.
    -NoSwing - Even more useless.
-AutoFish - No one fishes. I fish... I go afk to fish, its like MY THING
Acceptable everywhere except in PVP and Spleef
    -Step
    -Aimbot -
-NoFall - Why would you even need this here?
-ESP - useful to know where my chests near the void are
-FullBright - Nightvision essentially. No reason. Again... Warp Mob
-Wallhack - Can be used on other players islands for bad purposes.
    -Radar
-Tracers- Again, hard to see in warp mob
Only acceptable on your own island
    -ChestFinder
-AutoMine - Same deal with Aimbot. So what, I mean everyone does this to get cobble when they start out
-Nuker - Can cause horrible destruction anywhere. Umm no island protection it can only be on your island
-AutoTool - Works great when afk mining
    -Rapid Fire
    -FastBreak/FastPlace -
-Build -I dont use this but if it lets you make a structure whatever, just means the persons not creative enough to make their own
-Kill aura - Same as Aimbot and AutoMine. - umm freakin awesome for some mob traps... :p

We have island protection, log block, and a rollback system. Colsole finds any hackers with fly or what not. No support, hack clients are allowed, just not all hacks are allowed.

    0% Support.

This is a horrendous idea. Hacked clients are just called as is because they're modified and the skids have adapted this name.

1# Hacked clients do not take away any profits from the owner.

#2 They are not illegal, they are just a version of minecraft with some additions on it.

    #3 Wallhack is not allowed.

#4 It doesn't allow you to do anything special, nor does it give you a free account, so there's no way Mojang can lose profit.

#5 You can't AFK at mob spawn areas. It doesn't move you and it's a rare chance you'll ever get one, plus it isn't that abusable.

These clients allow people to build easier and such. You are making up abstract problems that likely no-one will ever encounter.

This thread is also disguistingly made. You cite quotes from Wikipedia that say the general meaning of hack. However, hack can have many meanings. Here, it means "modified".

There's a reason why mods, too, use them. They can possibly use X-Ray to find any griefer who is hiding in a large island, and so can the user. They can act by placing a bucket on lava on them and thus no moderator is needed when they aren't online + less trouble for you.

In my opinion, this is a sorry excuse of an idea and those whom took it a a pass should think about it more.

EDIT: What makes this idea more pathetic is that you are upvoting the people that support.

No support. I quite enjoy my "Hacks". I'd rather be able to keep nuker and kill aura for my own island, thanks. Like many people have stated, with island protection, there's nothing to worry about. Plus, there's no PVP on Skyblock. I like you and all Crawling, but ew, why was this even brought up? ;c
There are certain ones that we aren't allowed to use, and I believe it should stay as that. Don't take them completely away from the server. Everyone has their own opinion on them, and that's that. If you don't like them, don't use them yourself. But don't say it's unfair, considering each person who plays has the ability to get the clients themselves.

We aren't giving ourselves an unfair advantage to other players.
    OH. and Edit~ I constantly have full bright on. I'm so blind otherwise, and squint constantly when it isn't on. Don't take my babies from me ;-;

Oh, to anyone still replying to this thread, sorry for the small misunderstanding, I was referring to the clients which are hacked/cracked ( in other words, illegal ) not mods that are called hacked clients.

I stated my disagreement with this previously, but I feel like I should explain my reasoning in more detail here.
Firstly, your definition of what a "hacking" is is a little bit incorrect. I put "hacking" in quotations because I don't like to label people who use these clients as hackers. They are not writing these cheats themselves, they are downloading software from the internet.

To hack something does not always imply malicious intentions. Let's cover 3 types of hackers:

    Black hat
A "black hat" hacker is a hacker who "violates computer security for little reason beyond maliciousness or for personal gain"

Essentially, hacking for the sole purpose of personal gain or just to cause harm to the party being hacked. This is all your definition listed above covers.

    Grey hat
A grey hat hacker lies between a black hat and a white hat hacker. A grey hat hacker may surf the Internet and hack into a computer system for the sole purpose of notifying the administrator that their system has a security defect, for example. They may then offer to correct the defect for a fee. Grey hat hackers sometimes find the defect of a system and publish the facts to the world instead of a group of people. Even though grey hat hackers may not necessarily perform hacking for their personal gain, unauthorized access to a system can be considered illegal and unethical.

This is covered well enough above and doesn't require any further explanation from me.

    White hat
A white hat hacker breaks security for non-malicious reasons, perhaps to test their own security system or while working for a security company which makes security software. The term "white hat" in Internet slang refers to an ethical hacker. This classification also includes individuals who perform penetration tests and vulnerability assessments within a contractual agreement.

Your definition only covers black hat. There's plenty of people who hack for ethical purposes only. These people are usually not recognized because of the way hacking is portrayed in media. When you think of a hacker, you think of someone who's just being a douchebag by stealing from people, installing malicious software on a victim's computer, etc.

All of this said, all three of these exist in the skyblock community in the form of cheating client users. There are those who use them for their own personal gain maliciously, there are those who find exploits with them and release them to the public so that they are noticed, and there are those who use them just to make mundane tasks simpler.

I could understand why the presence of black hats would make you think that it's not worth the trouble just to make it easier for the white hats. This idea is not entirely unreasonable. However, you have to understand that there is no way to know someone has a cheating client unless they're actually using it. It'd be much more trouble to search for and get rid of every person that uses one whether it be for malicious purposes or not, than to just let people use them and get rid of the ones who actually misuse them. These people are few and far between amongst the hundreds of regulars who don't misuse them. They are almost always reported swiftly, and dealt with as such.

Think of cheating clients as a common cold. There is no cure for it at its root, but the symptoms can be treated. It's impossible to detect a cheating client unless they are observed using it. The misuse of them is the runny nose, sneezing, coughing, etc. Why bother to go searching for people who simply have them installed but are not misusing them, when the "black hats" present themselves to us?

Also, I'm not trying to sound rude but I think you misunderstood my reasoning behind categorizing these cheats when I did this a long time ago. I'll go ahead and explain why each one is in its respective category.

    Acceptable everywhere
    -Sprint
    -NoRender
    -Day
    -Waypoints
    -AutoWalk
    -Derp
    -Sneak (No packet mode)
    -X-Ray
    -NoSwing
    -AutoFish

Every one of these cheats is on this list for the exact reasons you wrote next to them. They are useless in trying to gain unfair advantage, and they only make mundane or repetitive tasks easier.

Acceptable everywhere except in PVP and Spleef
-Step - Not acceptable in PVP because is allows you to climb up stairs without jumping. That's an additional finger you could be doing something else with, giving you an advantage. Outside of PVP or spleef however, this is useless and is nothing but a convenience.
-Aimbot - Self explanatory. On your own island, it's only a convenience. Whether AFKing in mob traps should be allowed is up to the staff.
-NoFall - Nofall is not allowed in PVP because say someone knocks you off of the edge at a high place, you go falling down and... you take no damage. I wrote this rule without the knowledge of how the PVP area was going to be structured. Ultimately, however, the only unfair advantage it could give you is in PVP.
-ESP - Self explanatory, essentially a wallhack, you can see people through walls. No unfair advantages outside of PVP or spleef.
-FullBright - I put this one here because again, I didn't know how the PVP area was going to be structured. If the area is dark, this is an advantage because it provides higher visibility than your opponents. Does not matter outside of PVP and spleef.
    -Wallhack - See ESP.
-Radar - Lets you know if people are behind you. Doesn't matter outside of PVP and spleef.
-Tracers - Radar, but more painful to look at.
Only acceptable on your own island
-ChestFinder - Hide chests on your own island and not have to worry about losing them. However, this shouldn't be used on other islands for obvious reasons.
-AutoMine - As with aimbot, up to the staff whether idling at cobble generators should be allowed.
-Nuker - Yes, this can cause horrible destruction anywhere. If it's on your own island, however, you're only harming yourself. Doing it on someone else's island is a different story, but just as it works with normal griefing, this can be easily rolled back.
-AutoTool - Automatically switches to the best tool for breaking the block you're looking at. Convenience only. Honestly this one could be allowed anywhere.
-Rapid Fire - Self explanatory. If you want to throw things all over the place on your island, have fun. Don't ruin someone else's though.
    -FastBreak/FastPlace - See nuker.
    -Build - See nuker.
-Kill aura - Essentially an aimbot that doesn't turn your camera. See aimbot.

I saved this point for last, but your issue with cheating clients being a pirated version of the game is understandable, however, skyblock.net is run in online mode so you have to have purchased a legitimate account to play on the server in the first place. So, nobody that plays on this server got a hacked client because they didn't want to pay for the game.

Edit: cheating clients have also made my moderation duties worlds easier when I was staff. During the period of time when I didn't have logblock permissions, I could just fastplace/fastbreak and rebuild the island manually if I wanted to, which I did several times. These things can be used for good.

In a way, cheating clients are mods. They are modified versions of the Minecraft client. There is, however, one key difference.

Mods are placed into a folder, your client loads those mods and they modify your game from there.

Illegal clients are simply modified copies of the client, distributed as a whole for free (or in worse cases, for money.)

However... how illegal are they? Correct me if I'm wrong, but nowadays Optifine is a completely rewritten client, isn't it? And it's distributed for free. However, just as with any other client, unless you actually pay for an account, you can't play online. This also seems to be the way the majority of cheating clients work nowadays as well. Again, I could be wrong, I haven't played Minecraft in months and I could just be spouting nonsense.

He never said that. Altering someone's work is not illegal. Altering someone's proprietary work and then distributing it yourself, either for free or for money is what's illegal as it grants people access to that piece of work without having paid for it.

Say I download a brand new game. I write a wallhack for this game and use it privately. Is what I'm doing morally wrong? Yes. Is it legally wrong? No.
However, if I distribute the whole modified game with the wallhack, that's illegal. I'm distributing the game publisher's property without their consent for the public to freely download. That's what he's trying to get across.
