    He's far from best Democrat Prez. He misinterpreted Khrushchev's action and nearly got us into an actual war. Kennedy did play a role in the BoP, as he went through with the plan; he had plenty of opportunities to change it. He escalated the situation in Vietnam; he did help to overthrow Ngo Dinh Diem (South Vietnamese president). He did not "demand" civil rights in the first half. He was actually against civil rights until he changed his view in 1963. I will give him credit for the Civil Rights Act.

    we were already in an "actual" war. what defines "actual", is up to interpretation.

    He was cute and charismatic, I agree. Us being in an "actual" war didn't change that fact that he misinterpreted Khrushchev. He thought it was an act of aggression, pft.
