Back on topic: Perhaps as a precaution, until this is fixed, this warning should be added as a notification that everyone gets when they log onto the server (message of the day) ?

Yeah broadcast is a good idea, but also some players, especially regular ones stop reading the broadcasts. I was thinking it could also be a good idea to edit the welcome message until it's resolved. As this is a problem with the server rather than Minecraft generally (it seems to be specific to .Org), if I unknowingly had changed my name then lost my island, items on my island and donor status I'd be really annoyed if it turned out that it was a known problem and I hadn't been warned by the server as well as was possible. I'm also concerned about people saying lost items and ranks may not be refunded, if it was me I would feel I'd done nothing wrong to deserve losing everything... :/

Lol I wondered that too. I wonder if WorldGuard is in some way involved :/ that would make sense for the islands but not ranks...

 

I wonder if someone eg me changed their name to something else then someone changed their to my old name... Would they get the island and the status?

Considering there's a 37 day cooldown before anyone else is allowed to take your old name, I really hope this problem is sorted out before then haha! But, if it's possible for people to simply change their names back in order to return to their lost islands, I imagine theoretically then someone else could do the same to return to your old island too

However I do wonder what happens when the problem is solved. If the server is made to use UUID instead of username, perhaps the issues will magically fix themselves and it will return people to their islands. But if you have created a new island in the meantime, which will it choose?? It boggles my mind haha.
