Being popular helps you with support wise, but it doesn't mean you can't get mod. Artificiality got mod without anyone really "knowing" him. It took my mod app about 3-4 months and i believe thats the usual range for a mod app to be accepted (opinion).

Yeah and it wasn't accepted for 4 months. Also, Krissy was extremely active on the forums for all that time.

Did I mention that it will never be an instant thing?
I wasn't popular, I just did a lot of work. Not everyone can make it to mod.
But I don't think a lot of people could imagine themselves as mods and worked hard. Just because someone jointed the forums recently doesn't mean a great deal. As I said while the app is up you have to work hard. And for me, my mod app was a great incentive.

I knew who you were. You were like the only nice person on .org when I joined.

The whole "being popular gets you mod" thing isn't so true, maybe some people just support their friends just because they're friends but if they know they wouldn't be good and just support because of that then they are stupid. If you are active and help others people will notice that and support you. No one really knew who I was when I was first promoted awhile back. I only had like a few friends on org. Most of my supports were people I didn't really know and it was only a page and a half of supports.

'Popular' people just get lots of support most of the time. But their support probably doesn't effect Cypriots judgment of you and your moderator application. Really when and if you get mod is his say. Because in the end it is between a you and him, not the supports in between.

Well, being a "normal player" doesn't mean you can't help other players.

    All I can say is
Having an app open is the incentive to help people. People think just by helping a lot they can get mod. While helping out is one of the best ways to work towards mod, sometimes it is rank, and popularity.
On the other hand when people don't have an app open they may not feel inclined to help. I think a few times the people who have helped for the sake of it then was asked to open an app have gotten somewhere.
You can work towards mod then become ready.
Say if I ha been promoted back in December or January i would have not been ready. And I think I have to work my way to it by really understanding the server.

I dont understand why people are conplaining about not getting mod....

I have been waiting to get mod for 2 years now, making apps constantly (when issues with forums deleted them), getting support from people, advertising with my signature, helping people ingame and on forums, and just being a very friendly, easy-to-talk-to person (also somewhat of a grammar nazi :D). And after all this, for 2 straight years, I havent been accepted. All my credentials are fine as well, so I see no reason why I havent been accepted yet.

After all this, I just keep my mouth shut, bump my app occasionally and stay patient. If you complain, get a life, then get on with it. All I can say

I'm still not a hundred percent sure what happened to be honest. XD I went from a nobody to a somebody in about a week and then got talked into making an app. McBird threatened me. >.>

And I guess this is where it fits in. I got a ridiculous amount of support. I know for a fact there were a few mods... possibly even spamming Cyp about me. I really didn't think I'd get mod and I was content to just continue on org as I was, but I had figured if I at least made an app, everyone would relax about it (that didn't work actually, I'm pretty sure it just made it worse lol) and everyone promised me they'd help teach me if I got it. XD

My app was up for exactly one month before I got mod. :) I'd been on the server for about 4 months, but only been in the community for 2 months. >.> (That's a story for another day.)

Anyway, the point is that you can have all the support in the world, and that's good, but it doesn't insta get you mod. The decision still comes down to Cyp, and it's still based on you and if he thinks you're ready. :)
