I originally made this thread over on Mineverse, so I decided I would post it here too. No, grave-digging is not going to someone's grave and digging their bodies up to steal what they were buried with... Grave digging, AKA "necro posting", is the term we use here on Mineverse when someone posts on a thread that has been "inactive" for one month plus. But, there are some exclusions to grave digging, and they are listed below. Necro-posting has no effect on moderator applications, introductions, and help, so if you wanted, you could go comment on one that is over a year old. People are also allowed to "reopen" their old threads by simply commenting on them. If you have a thread that is a year old, go ahead and comment on it! You're allowed to! I made this thread because I am tired of seeing people grave-dig threads... but only if the threads that were over a month old were archived.. that's for another thread. Bumping a thread older than 30 days is classified as spam. If the response is not deemed necessary and would require a new thread to be started you will receive an infraction for gravedigging/necroposting.
Grave-digging is also reffered to someone going on old threads to find some information about a person and posting it somewhere else. ie: Searching for a mistake a mod commit in the past to make them lose their rank
As far as I'm aware, that's not the case...although I don't like it when people abuse moderators like that. :/
Partly this can be the case. If a player was to purposely surface old threads just to bring attention to a mistake someone has made in the past then yes. However old threads can be referenced if using it as proof/evidence in reports and that of course means no posting in it if the thread is unlocked in accordance with the rules above.
