I actually can't remember if I already suggested this in the past, I suspect not, but anyway apologies if I did ^^

I was chatting about nicknames recently on .Org with a bunch of people, because naturally many people have been creating Christmassy nicks and many Donor25s and lower were feeling left out. I said something along the lines of "I wish people could buy /nick perms separately in the shop, you could even buy it for someone as an Xmas gift" and many people replied saying they agreed or wished that they could too, so I thought I'd post the suggestion here.

I do understand that a donation of $65 USD for Highroller is a lot of money irl, even a $40 upgrade from Donor25 (it's almost twice as much again as they have already donated!) and many players, especially younger ones, simply could never afford it despite wanting to help the server out. I think many people would pay a smaller amount of money (I'm thinking $10-20?) just for /nick, as it's possible with /fly, and many people donating a small amount of money surely can't be a bad thing? I really don't think it would put people off getting the Highroller rank, as with that you get both /nick, /fly and /enchant as well, sort of all rolled into one... plus the kit... anyway I think you'd end up with more donations overall rather than less.

Also, players who already have HR or OL who can't afford a big upgrade for someone might like to buy it for another player as a gift, and to continue donating to the server, without upgrading themselves. Somehow, I find it easier to justify buying a friend a nick than buying myself a spawner kit or something, should I want to donate again to the server. I want the server to receive as many donations as possible, as if .Org were to close down, it would ruin my day, ruin my month even (jks I would be a lot more gutted than that!)

And besides, nicknames are fun, and help to make the chat easier to read!

Yes it would, in theory ^^ but no [Rank] before the name so we'd still be able to tell who'd bought what

Though in theory, by definition, it's impossible for a greenie to have /nick unless they did /nick &aYourName (why would you pay to do that! Haha!) and once you have paid for anything in the donorshop, I suppose technically that makes you a donor, of a sort!

I have no idea about .Net, I'm just an .Org player ^^ I think there are a lot more ranks already on .Net though so idk if it would work out, the .Net chat is a lot busier I think though so perhaps it would be helpful, I really don't know XD x

I was also thinking around the 10$ mark. It doesn't add anything to actual gameplay so I think 10$ is fair, any more and people probably wouldn't go for it.

 

This is probably good for .org only, support. But I really think it should only be an add-on for people who are already donors. Could get confusing with greenies being able to change their name 24/7. $10 donor plus $10 /nick is a lot less than $65 highroller if you really want /nick that bad.

 

I think this is like perfect. Also, I think it would work for .net.

^^If you were to implement it, you would make it so no one could change the colour of their /nick. We could prevent this by setting the perms, but then only allowing it for greenbean(maybe), 10 and 25. Also,
a)donor 50 upwards would not need this as they already have this - it would be almost an "add on" for greenbean, donor 10 and 25.
If you wanted, you could prevent greenies getting it and only donor 10 and above - that way it might be another incentive to get donor10 as well?
