Disclaimer: This is a work of an opinion.

This week will be sunny, with a low chance of mild rain… oh, and an invasion of TBH threads coming from the North.

When I first saw the word TBH (To Be Honest), it reminded me of TB (Tuberculosis- a dangerous viral disease)…

To put it simply, the phrase “To Be Honest” annoys me greatly.

    1. Why would we even need this word in our society if everyone was honest in the first place? I’m sure many of you know that lying is bad, it’s not horrible but it is not good either. Does that mean our society is becoming so dishonest that we need to tell people we are being honest so that they can tell the difference between when we are being honest and dishonest?

Quoting two sources here. Basically TBH threads aren't necessarily honest. “This kills me, it really does”* When people say “To be Honest” they aren't always being honest, does that means our word value has become non-existent? That even when we say we are “being Honest” we aren't completely honest.

    3. The reality. - a quick explanation of logic paths.

Imagine you are the person with the thread. I can imagine there are three basic categories of people that might answer.

    1. People you like.

    2. People you don’t know

    3. People you dislike.

I believe that most of you readers are tactful and intelligent. So imagine each of these scenarios

    1. Someone you like posts. Of course you will tell them how awesome they are and so on. Overdoing the compliments slightly never hurts.

    2. 2 choices, either lie and say they are cool, or say that you don’t know them.

    3. - Be honest and say you don’t really enjoy their company, but be tactful and say it in a nice way, other people are reading you comments.

    - Say that they are ok.

    - Say that they are ‘cool’

So to conclude if there was one thing I would like for you to take out of this, is that our society, and this forums should be more transparent, with less lies, and less deception. Thank you for reading.

P.S I hope this helped you formulate some sort of an opinion about social media and the phrase TBH, feel free discuss how you feel to discuss this in this thread.

    I agree with this entirely.
Maybe I wasn't as honest with mine as I could have been.
I also didn't mean for it to turn into a "thing".

used my thread in the example... even if i did turn it into an actual tbh thread. Point being tbh threads are nothing unless you can be honest and I found it difficult to do when some people I didnt know well enough.

Tuberculosis would have TBC as an abbreviation. Not TB.

"Tuberculosis, MTB, or TB (short for tubercle bacillus)"

Shook my statement, decided to look it up and read an article on it. Both are correct. Sorry for the misconception.
Furthermore; the geographical location does matter, considering Tuberculosis would have either TB or TBC as an abbreviation in German, Dutch, French, and many other languages. Appears to be different in the U.S of A and the U.K.
