So I was thinking, we could have (a) trophy point(s) for people with a lot of followers. It could go as: 10 followers (10 trophies) 25 followers (10 trophies ) 50 followers (20 trophies) 100 followers (20 trophies) 250 followers (25 trophies) As an approximate, I haven't really figured out the exact count. Like all suggestions, there are pros and cons to it. Pros: More trophy points, therefore more initiative to be active and gain followers. More reason behind having followers, and followings Won't hurt the website, society, or anything else. Cons: Can this be implemented? Follow abusing could become a thing? And some other issues, that I think could be solved, or not solved. What if someone loses followers? This is just a small problem. Like when messages got wiped a while ago, some people lost their message count, get still had those achievements. What would happen in case of follow abusing? If someone abuses the ability to follow, they could be temp-forum-banned. And that's all I got.
Let's say, telling people to follow you, and/or making forum alts (which is illegal anyway) to go follow your main account.
Gotcha, well, I don't really see this happening. There's plenty of trophies in my opinion and there is no need for more. If it were to be accepted, I would suggest that there be only 1 trophy for followers, not a different one for each increment.
I dont think we need trophies for that. Unless you make one for say 100 followers or at 300 followers so its harder to obtain and follower abuse
I don't see a need for this. Following people is to see their recent messages in your News Feed, that's what it is for. Not for trophies or whatever. ;p
Nope nope, it's going to be another thing that people are going to want to farm because they just have the urge to have it for whatever reason.
I have 615 followers on Insta haha & I follow 70 people Support but its not really needed. It would be cool though.
I actually made one legit in summer and it got me 8 dislikes so I deleted the thread lmao But seriosuly, I think as much as this is a good idea, it's easily abusable, and to a very small extent, discriminatory. How do I mean abusable? I know some people who do follow for follow on here and have hundreds of followers becasue of this. That's throwing on loads of trophy points for hitting "follow". Also, if you're not popular, so to speak, you don't get as many trophy points, I feel this is kind of unfair. And I can't agree with this ^^ more. Everything's just turning into "Look how more popular I am than you". If that's the way we're going to approach forums, I might as well leave right now. As a community, we shouldn't be encouraging that between us.
