For the entirety of this thread, I'll be using the Suggestions section as an example. There's a place for 1-2 sentence (or heaven forbid 1-2 word) posts on the forums. That place is not in threads for open ended discussion, such as those in the Suggestions subforum. I feel like it would be much more productive if we didn't allow such replies in these threads. One of the worst offenders I've seen so far is, you guessed it, the thread about putting an age gate on moderator applications. Go look at it. Count how many "lol no" or "no support" posts there are. Then count how many of them are "I agree 100%" posts in reply to a more well-written post. Plain and simple, those types of replies contribute nothing to the discussion that the thread is actually about. If you can't think of 3-4 sentences about your position on a matter, then it's probably not that important to you, or you're not in a position to have an opinion on it. On top of being useless, there's no reason to make the higher-ups sift through all the 2-word posts to find the ones that actually matter. It would significantly cut down on post-count making it easier to determine who stands where on a matter, and why. So how do we solve this? Well, I propose 2 changes, you guys can choose both, either one of, or neither of them. First of all, have a minimum post length on subforums that are made for open-ended discussion. If it is not a certain amount of characters, you will not be allowed to post. This will, at the very least, discourage "no" or "yes" posters. For the persistent ones, whatever mods happened to be wandering through these threads will issue a warning for useless replies and delete the post. At least that's how I believe it should be done, you guys can handle it however you see fit. That's all folks.
I completely agree with you on this. Far too many open-ended discussion threads, like the ones in suggestions, are spammed up with completely meaningless posts. You have my support on this.
If we enforce this people complain they lose postcount. And with the terrible infraction system (that I cannot get changed) still stands. Half the Moderators don't even use it correctly. I tried to streamline it and failed, as no one listened.
It could be simply fixed by mods deleting such posts if they decide they want to read through the forums. Anything that get rid of a whole heap of posts will only cause problems for those who take it seriously. So basically its up to someone telling mods to moderate the forums so pointless short messages don't affect things like suggestions. I dont think if matters too much unless the same person keep doing the same this over and over again to boost post counts etc.
If people want to cry about post count, that's their issue. It doesn't mean that their stupid 2 word posts belong in suggestions. Welcome to skyblock.net
