[.NET] Possible lift on the ban on Sponge when Bukkit 1.8 is out?

    This suggestion is for when Bukkit V.1.8 is out, where Sponge is a Vanilla item.

    Currently, Sponge is an illegal item, mostly because it is a creative item. For those who did not see, with 1.8, sponges now absorb water, and it can be found in the new Ocean Monuments, making them a vanilla item.

    Why not remove the ban on them?

    Well there isnt an ocean in skyblock. .____. So for now, no support. But if I am just not understanding, tell me :p

    Well, they also have a utility. Some people do have needs to clear out lots of water.

    If spawn eggs for elder guardians were sold at warp trade or something, it'd be a good way of obtaining sponge, because they drop it upon their death. Supporting the idea of sponges becoming legal to trade.

    Sponge already has the ability to absorb water.

    Sponge should be allowed anyways but as a currency block like worth more than grass and you can get spawn eggs from diff. mobs for just 1 sponge but i dont think that there should be guardians for trade or allow them

    Sponge is only illegal to trade, not own. So It should be acceptable to have them sold and lift the ban. Its not a dangerous item, its mainly aesthetic. Wet sponge is the new item. I dont see any issues in allowing sponge trade and sponge being able to be bought from shops. Some people might be ticked off because they thought they were special having it, but since it makes sense an illegal to trade item would have no proper value.
    I hope it gets lifted but I understand if it doesnt.

    Someone could visit islands and absorb all of the water.

    Most islands don't have huge sources of water, but those that do could become targets. It would be a pain to have to replace the water.

    I realize this is a rare occurance, but it should be considered.

    That would be more of a troll thing. Ice is able to be bought on net. And many mods would carry space ice and supplies like that to replace water. It wont be a huge issue, just a slight annoyance.

    If they do that, it would be considered griefing, as it always would be. Therefore, if someone did that, they would be banned.

    I don't really see much use for it, but yes, I don't see any harm in legalising the trading of it.

    They weren't always illegal to trade. In mid 2013, they were at a set price of about 3 diamonds. I'd say these could be used as a rare to replace the source blocks. I'm not taking sides, though.
