Can we please have some info about this? There's a rumour about that the plugin is 'glitched'. What does this mean? Is it intended to fix Mob Arena? It seems to be a very important part of the trading system. If it is impossible to fix, is it possible to introduce some other way to obtain iron for buckets? I'm no java expert, but I'd be happy to look into it if the local techs are busy with other things. It's been a few days now, an info update on this would be greatly appreciated. Mucho grassy @ss, Meec
Don't worry lol, it's because the 1.8 plugin for mob arena hasn't been updated yet, and because the server can also be used in 1.8 it means they removed the mob arena completely.
The plugin still exists on the server, its just to stop the plugin from potentially causing negative effects on the server it has been disabled. Which the disabling of the mob arena is coded in the plugin itself so its not broken, nor is it glitched. Also, iron can be obtained by trading and donating, grass by voting and donating and it is possible to only need one bucket as you can use an infinite water source and lava goes in the bucket, and most people if they need the bucket for water will store the lava somewhere.
Any word on Mob Arena? Apart from very rare drops, new iron cannot seem to enter the game atm. Also, it was cool
New iron enters the game through donors, which is unfortunate for non donors. Mob arena does get enabled sometimes by mods but it is still fairly glitched and yeah. There has been no word of if its been fixed, if anythings being done. I am clueless on that front. Its more of a waiting game.
*sigh* I just die and lose all my stuff in smitearena. While cool, smiteaerna doesn't replace redstone/iron income from MobArena. The 1.8 update essentially broke the server for non-donors. That's ok, prolly drive a bunch of peeps to donate, and those who leave are easily replaced. But I like to see how far I can go without paying for advantage. Without being able to earn iron/redstone in-game(ma, villagers), that's not very far. Building interesting machines is ruled-out; such a shame... Having only been playing here for 2 weeks, however, I can't justify buying-in. Considering the $30 price tag of minecraft, for a $50 donation I would want some confidence that the server I was committing to was being actively managed, from a technical perspective. I have known servers to simply evaporate, and the distinct lack of communication from anyone actually connected with administration of the server about the failure of plugins which are crucial for newcomers to this place, is baffling..... Thanks again to all respondents. As you say Krissy, I will wait. There are many other interesting places to visit in the meantime
Redstone is fairly simple to get, I literally have so much redstone I throw it in the void. Ask me in game for some. Donors dont get an "advantage" since skyblock has no set aim. Being a non donor is just more difficult because things are not just handed on a plate. There are a lot of people who love to help out. Its unfortunate about the mob arena, and other things but its not impossible to make it without.
Thanks Krissy. I'm not going to argue what represents 'advantage'. My main concern is poor communication. So, I will practice what I preach and supply the information to everyone else: Skyblock.net runs a Craftbukkit server. CraftBukkit is an (unofficial) version of minecraft server which exposes the underlying server API for easy plugin creation. After every official server update, the bukkit server had to be updated as well. The minecraft community Bukkit project is finished as of now. The original developers were hired by Mojang a while back, the remaining developers are broke and burned-out, and the new EULA for minecraft servers is severely restrictive; seeking rent, essentially, from anyone making money from a publicly available server. The minecraft dev community at large have described it as a big FU. Microsoft have bought Minecraft for over $2Bfrom Mojang. They will want a return on this strategic investment, which, from previous behaviour, probably doesn't mean giving anything away for free, or not suing people to protect it. While Mojang have said they will take over maintenance of the Bukkit Server, there are no plans to update it for 1.8. If Mob Arena or villager trading are to continue to have any place in Skyblock.net, server mods for vanilla minecraft will need to be developed from scratch, or stay with CraftBukkit1.7.9.r2 which is not sustainable. Minecraft is undergoing severe upheaval. All bets are off
Krissy, while it's easy for you to say finding redstone is easy, it's just not true. I don't want your redstone, and if I spend all my grass on iron I can Juuust keep myself with a bucket at most times. I understand my experience on skyblock is nothing like yours, so please understand it too. If you want to see my point of view, start a new skyblock and play it for 1 week. I am seeing skyblock as a newcomer; you are an established donator with god-knows-what daily income of resources. I get 1 grass. When I ask for information about a problem, I don't respect people who just shrug and say: "what problem?". Sorry, but I don't understand why it's such a crime to ask what is going on. The crime is ignoring problems. In any event, I won't bother posting in these forums again, since it so irritates.....
