Isn't this turning into Flint and steel because of 1.8?

 

And flint and steel is illegal to trade...
I don't know the exact rules on this anymore, I would say hold on to it, to prevent accidental confusion.

 

Ok, I heard that it would be turning into flint and steel but I figured that flint and steel would just become legal and it would just replace fire.

 

flint and steel shouldn't become tradeable, there is no nether so it may simply become a griefing tool.
