I heard that in 1.8 source blocks turned into lava buckets for lava blocks, water buckets for water blocks and flint and steel for fire blocks. I thought that it could be a good idea if for a little while, it would be possible to trade them while in 1.7 (because as long as you log on in 1.7 they stay the way they are). Maybe there could be villagers at a special warp that would give a block that currently doesn't exist in the community, maybe even some of the new 1.8 blocks if that isn't an issue with the server not quite being 1.8 yet. What do you guys think of this idea?

 

I was thinking a similar suggestion (which wouldn't work) but your one is better so support.

Although the item image changes, does the tag still read 'water block' or 'bucket of water'?

 

Its called ''Water'', ''Lava'', and ''Fire''. Not ''Water block'', ''Lava block'', and ''Fire block''

 

And if they made a special warp to exchange water bucket, lava bucket, and flint and steel for water, lava, fire, everyone would have lots and making those 3 source block and basically making them worthless.

 

They would do this before the items changed in 1.8. If you go to 1.7 the items are still water, fire and lava.

 

Then trading for 1.8 items wont work

 

You guys realize that they are still fireblocks lavablocks and waterblocks right? They just have the image of it. If you try to place one the source will appear, but the item will disappear, proving that the item still exists, it just has a different texture. We just need a plugin to retexture them, and all will be good.

Possible fix, but there might be an easier solution, we just don't know yet
