Hello! I have come here to talk about the Spambots we have been receiving here for many months. I am asking that all players utilize the "Report" feature. Whenever you see a spambot thread please report with the button, tagging a mod is the worst possible way of informing someone.

• It just collects up in our many alerts we get
• It is notified to only one moderator, instead of all the staff team.

How reports work: We get a nice little page for us to deal with them. We all get an alert at the top left of our screen to handle your reports. They all get done within minutes, a lot of times, seconds.

This is just a friendly reminder, and I want you to know that our users are the most important! We will do our best to protect you guys!

Guys, a lot of people don't use the report button. They tend to pass it off as ineffective, thinking that tagging a mod is better. Although I am not a Mod, I can make the claim with reasonable certainty that people tend to ignore the small Report button, and instead tag. Also, note that threads created to increase ratings and post count are not allowed.

(Correct me if I'm wrong?)

I think we need a stickied thread explaining when and not to use the report button; because from what I have seen; it's not taken seriously.

 

Regarding spambots i usually dont even bother to report them unless they have been there for an hour~ just because when i was a mod myself i found it irritating that ppl reported them then someone takes care of them on his own and the report grts left open while being completed by someone else ._.

 

I'm pretty sure the mods can dismiss improperly used reports pretty easily, but yeah that'd be nice.

I use the report button normally, but I've seen people tag mods :/

 

Regarding different procedures on dealing with forum spambots and in-game spambots, I quite like MrBeefCak3's thread on Mineverse, of which he has given me permission to post here:

 

Here is something that might be useful to add:

In the case where a Spam Bot just advertises on their profile via their profile information or home page, post something on their profile, then report that as like "Spam Engine (Profile Info)" or something like that. What I do in cases like that.
