Changes to the PM Advertising Rule

    I think there should be a change, or some clarifications be made, regarding the PM Advertising rule.

    I've always been told talking about other servers is a form of advertising and just as serious as regular advertising.

    If that was the case then what's been happening would have been stopped a long, long time ago.

    So, I'd like a clarification on the rule.

    What I am aware of is that any kind of advertising anywhere (chat or pm) is illegal. What makes it legal is if it is another crew server, or in pm, if the person who you msg'ed, asked for the server ip, which if you are banned, you should take screens with them asking you for the ip

    I'm speaking for in-game here, and the rules, if I'm correct, are that.
    Any IP's in the public chat are ILLEGAL.
    IP's sent to people if they ask are Legal.
    Advertising in chat, such as "/msg me for a cool server IP" is Kickable. In rare cases, a mute.
    IP's sent to people who didn't ask are ILLEGAL.

    Forums. It's all very muddled.
    I agree the profile posts are wrong, and taking traffic away from Crew's servers, which is unacceptable.

    I've seen too many people making that switch. I hadn't noticed the advertising on profiles being that bad.

    The rule is if the person requested the IP from another server then it's legal. Any other form of advertising is ILLEGAL. Even if the player is simply talking about the server name.

    I find it only acceptable when in-game there are let's say, two friends.
    One messages the other "Hey, wanna play on another server?"
    "Sure, IP?"
    "thisissonotafakeip.com.net.org.uk.swag"
    However, this form of advertising "oh my server is now _______"
    Is basically luring players into asking what it is, taking players, which I would not allow.
    So I support.

    Stop and think about it. Its natural people would love to find servers to play on, people play on more than one. Saying the name on the server may prompt people to go to it. Saying the ip is making getting to other servers easier. But quite literally, all advertising will generally happen outside of the server, and you cannot ban people for asking for ips and arranging to get it over skype.
    My simple rule is this: no saying the name of servers in public chat, and no saying ips.
    Think about how regular advertising works. you want to get your product out there, you make it seen to many targets. So banning for giving a friend an ip in private is not exactly what mods are after. As long as people are not randomly telling people ips in private, than its ok.

    But common sense is also in the rules. Meaning you should have common sense to only tell the player when they ask :)

    Hi, um.. well Heaven Block actually wasn't implemented on my server, but you are basically talking about a server in a form of advertising, so as this being said No Support : DD D D D D D D D D
