I'm in the middle of reading the fault in our stars and I'm loving it, but for people who prefer more action type books, try the cherub series if you haven't read it yet ;)

I am a huge fan of Diana Wynne Jones. One of her books was made into a movie a few years back (Howl's Moving Castle) and that is how I got introduced to her. My favorite by her is Merlin Conspiracy and its prequel, Deep Secret!

I personally adore Mary Higgins Clark's "Let me call you sweetheart".
It's a crime book, not a love story.

I'm personally a massive fan of Charlie Higson, so I recommend the Enemy books (the whole series is amazing), and also I really enjoyed the Young Bond series (also by Charlie Higson)
    ^^^ Also that.
^^^And that. Although it can be slightly inappropriate at times
