Maybe we could add /nick to the list of socialspy commands? Not sure if that would work, but mods could see what players typed /nick
But I mean if nobody abuses in chat, then there's no harm done. I don't see anything wrong with this idea, Support from me
Wtf that idea has nothing to do with logs. Mods have social spy. Any mod online would receive a notification if someone typed it
But if mods are online... it would stop nick abuse. There are usually at least one mod online tho. Some people will still get away with it, but less.
I use /nick to go afk. /nick MegadorkAFK If /nick were limited in how often it can be used during a particular period of time, then I would be unable to switch between afk and back. I wouldn't want to be penalized for that or have to wait to change my status. If that makes any sense.
If the timer was like 20 seconds, or a minute, I'm pretty sure you don't keep going afk every 20 seconds to a minute.
Support. This helps two things: 1 Helping mods /realname someone who changed their nick to something inappropriate. 2 People cannot constantly change their nicks.
If there's a way to do it I support the original idea. If the player changes their nick to something inappropriate (and plans on changing it back) and doesn't say anything in chat, then what harm could be done? Other than someone seeing it in /list, but then the abuser is caught regardless.
Umm, I am super confused. Did I say something was old? What are you referring to? As far as I was aware, I was just stating the possible fixes that currently exist for this problem. I have some limited coding experience in Java, which is what these plugins are written in I believe. It should be as simple of a solution as adding a console.log function to print a line containing the usernames of whoever uses the /nick command which mods could look at. I could probably even rip it off from a different plugin. Copy pasta ftw!
I know, /nick can be held in your up arrow or it's just because they're a fast typer and /nick is shorter than the command /realname <Partial Nick of the abuser>. He's thinking of a way to slow them down such as a cooldown or the suggestion I brought up.
Actually, I had the command ready (with it being entered by pressing Enter) and literally did it as soon as the message came up. Not fast enough. Either way, the nick abuse is not an unknown problem. When I get back from my vacation, Ill look into it more closely.
No, you missed what I meant. 0 seconds on cooldown: Change nick to something inappropriate. 45 seconds on cooldown: Wait. 15 seconds: Wait. 0 seconds: Immediately say your message. Since there's no cooldown, you can turn your nick off immediately.
I wonder if it would be possible to make it so that /nick can't be used within like a minute of sending a message.
