Well basically starting august 1st servers are no longer allowed to sell in game items/kits/commands/currency or anything that gives a unfair advantage to other players, Servers will only be allowed to sell cosmetic stuff like a prefix or the ability to talk in color. Any server that already had donations before august 1st will have to give everyone on the server all the same commands. This is the stuff I thought effected skyblock the most but heres the link to read all about it Let’s talk server monetisation – the follow-up Q+A Let’s talk server monetisation! Are any servers exempt to the EULA? No. It affects all servers and players equally. Do server hosts have a grace period to implement changes to their servers? Yes. All servers must comply with the EULA by August 1st, 2014. Can I charge for access to server commands? Yes, as long as their effects are purely cosmetic. Commands that affect gameplay, such as a command to fly, cannot be sold for hard currency. Can I sell ranks on my server? Yes. Ranks are allowed so long as any perks gained are cosmetic. Coloured names, prefixes, special hats etc. are fine. Can I sell “kits” for irl money if I provide a balanced alternative for non-paying users? If the “kits” contain gameplay-affecting features they are not allowed. Gameplay balance is not relevant to the EULA. If the items included in the kit are purely cosmetic, you can charge real money/hard currency. How should servers deal with users who have already spent hard currency on features that affect gameplay? Users may keep the perks they’ve paid for on the condition that the same perks are available to other players on the server (directly or purchasable using soft currency). It’s up to the server host to decide how to compensate users for previous transactions. Does the EULA still apply for access to user-created mods? Yes. It doesn’t make a difference who made the mods, or how they were implemented onto your server. All mods require Minecraft to run. You are not allowed to charge for Minecraft features which affect gameplay.
Wow.... this is going to effect a lot of users and owners of servers, this is going to course destruction.
However, Noobcrew could get around the part where everybody has to have the commands or nobody gets them by letting the current donors keep them and selling the commands for like 500 diamonds each
Like I have said in a previous post, this would not really affect us: How often am I allowed to charge players to access my server? You can charge players as regularly as you like. You can even charge for timed access if you think it’s the best way to monetise your server. Nothing changes from this Can I charge access to a specific part of my server, such as a minigame or world? No, you cannot charge for any part of a server. Only the access. Once on a server, all players must have the same gameplay privileges. You may make a different server which features “premium” areas, and charge for access to that server instead, but the benefits cannot carry between servers. Easily fixed, just delete /warp donor and add the villagers to /warp trade Can I sell “kits” for hard currency if I provide a balanced alternative for non-paying users? If the “kits” contain gameplay-affecting features they are not allowed. Gameplay balance is not relevant to the EULA. If the items included in the kit are purely cosmetic, you can charge real money/hard currency. Talking about 'KITS', nothing in the kits we have go against this. It says gameplay balance is not relevant to the EULA, in the kits we get grass/iron/redstone and diamonds which are currency. Other things such as dia picks we sell so they are kind of currency, and sand would need to be changed, either give a /sand kit to all which gives like 1 sand every 3 days, or add it to the shop and, either keep it illegal to trade or make it legal. My server features a currency that you can earn through gameplay, but which can also be bought for hard currency. Is that OK? Soft currencies that are earned in-game are fine, but you cannot sell in-game currency for hard currency. Hybrid/dual currency systems are not allowed. This includes the bought kits. selling kits for ingame money is ok, but selling items for real money is illegal. As such I will now report anyone I see doing something like this. Can I sell ranks on my server? Yes. Ranks are allowed so long as any perks gained are cosmetic. Coloured names, prefixes, special hats etc. are fine. This doesn't change anything for the donors. Can I charge for access to server commands? Yes, as long as their effects are purely cosmetic. Commands that affect gameplay, such as a command to fly, cannot be sold for hard currency. The kit for /fly in the store will need to be taken down, but are allowed in the donor ranks as this coincides with a balanced alternative for other users. Each donor rank give more than the last, and a non-donor (Greenbean) would need to maybe have a /kit starter to make all other kits even. Such may include 1 grass, 1 iron every 3 days. How should servers deal with users who have already spent hard currency on features that affect gameplay? Users may keep the perks they’ve paid for on the condition that the same perks are available to other players on the server (directly or purchasable using soft currency). It’s up to the server host to decide how to compensate users for previous transactions. This means that previous donors can keep all their /kits that they paid for, and following with the equal community rule, other donors must also get them, so there would be no change . On the side. I did some research into the rules of the EULA which some people may find comforting: The EULA accepted in Alpha said I could monetize if I wanted and that people had access to all game updates forever. Since we don't have to go through the EULA to get those, you can't enforce any new EULA on any server owners who had bought this game while in alpha. For the things that are not allowed in the EULA, server runners will likely keep doing it, and more than likely Mojang won't do anything about it. It's more of a scare tactic than anything else. The biggest thing about that is that for the most part, those aren't in the game, (or atleast weren't, since world edit was recently added). They were added by mods or plugins for the server. I don't know how much legal hold Mojang would have against people who limited access to those, since technically, even though it's within their game, it's technically not their work that is adding them in.
Technically, yes. Nearly everything you get in the kits (Not dia pick) you can wear as a /hat, so......I love cheating the system
There's an official thread to this already but good work its very informative for new and old players.
Since i dont really get this thingy does it mean if we should buy donor ranks soon since it is all going to change very quick?
Also, can I just say, all donors who have already bought their ranks and kits, since they was bought under the old EULA rules, legally, you do not have to have them taken away from you
Im on my phone so im not gonna quote anyone but you can NOT sell any physical item period, selling kits as hats is illegal and yes the ranks would have to be taken away there is no grandfathering in with the eula rules. Everyone will have to have all the same kits commands and permissions other then cosmetic stuff like /hat or a donor prefix. The only solution to this is to sell ever permission donor 400 has which is every command every other donor rank has in a shop. Sorry for the mistakes in grammar and spelling.
There was no old eula rules, mojang never took them serious. They are just now starting to enforce them.....
