I think it would be a great idea if once a week or once a month there was a contest where the people who run the server look round at people islands and decicide whos island looks the best, for example who has some cool looking houses or like who can make the nicest fountain (<-just some ideaa), and then they give the winner a prize. The prize could be small things like a few grass or diamonds or even sometimes like a spawner or maybe a like 50$ rank for example. I think it would add something new and fresh to a already brilliant server and it would encourage people to buil amazing things. If you think this is a good idea, try and spread the word, it would be awesome to see my idea actually implemented and used into the server.

I like this idea c: But a few flaws, some people may already have a $50 rank, and that is pretty extreme itself, also some new members wont be able to participate or favoritism could occur

 

the 50$ rank was just an example, but i think having prizes that are a little extreme could be a good idea, it would mean people would work really hard on their islands and create awesome building and stuff. And for the new members: we all had to start from the beginning and we all had to work hard to get cool or big islands, and i personally think that the prizes wouls encourage the new memebers but i might be wrong

 

It depends on how frequently the contests would occur, may the prize is like diamonds but then if you win it a few times it becomes like a $25 rank?
Also different divisions could work to separate new island from those that have been going on for years

 

i think like every week they give out diamonds and grass and there could be a monthly thing where people can win ranks. And the last thing you said is a good idea

 

I'd love this idea but to make it special and more rewarding it would have to be annual for these reasons:

1) if it was weekly or monthly it would require at least 10 new islands completed a week to make it a competition

2) defining what the "best" island is difficult as some people like efficiency, some prefer artistic and some prefer fun so it's hard to compare

3) if it was weekly or monthly with ranks then it could rupture the point in donating. I mean I would sure be ticked off if I donated even £10 then realise somebody got it free

4) who would judge? We couldn't have mods judge because try have enough to look after as well as enjoying the server itself. The admin can't do it cause they're job is to administrate and cyp and crew can't do it cause they're just two people.

5) people would become stressed try to be the best and the server would be about competing against one another rather than working together to make out islands better

6) you can't really do it with .net (too many island wanting to be private, dunno about hellblock) so in my opinion it wouldn't be fair to give one server a weekly and monthly contest

7) if this idea was put forward (with all previous point amended) I would suggest that a forum thread in announcements of possible candidates who want their warp to join be made to make sure the warps/coops are willing

This is just my opinions please correct me if I'm wrong

 

No support, people already do island contests now and then, but the thing is, most of the people that do the contests aren't really that professional at judging islands, they just choose the one that's the most expensive, there are also a few island contest makers that are really griefers under-cover, sorry, this would create way too many problems.
