Just gonna say, when EnderDragon47 did this, he was banned. You witnessed this and should've taken this as a example

    1. Just wondering. How did he encourage griefing? Isnt griefing when you place or break blocks with out permission? which he gave to everyone so technically its not griefing.

I wasn't involved in the situation, but assuming that the word grief was used in the title and the opening post, I assume it was used in game. Saying "hey come grief my island" would make people think light of it, and think that greifing islands is a joke and a game. Whether or not it was later stated that you should not be griefing without permission.

For new users who don't understand the rules, they see that someone is allowed to grief. Especially if they're coming from PVP servers, it gives them the wrong idea, and if they've only jumped online for a second, or get disconnected before the following message of "Do not grief without permission", you now have a very confused new comer, who could go on to destroy someone's hard work and possibly lose out on the opportunity to enjoy this awesome server. Whether or not they were actually on the island doing the greifing that day, the message goes with people.

There's 100 to 500 people on Net at any given time. With language barriers, the age range and possible connection issues cutting out messages, it's really easy for people to get confused, especially when not everyone seeks out the rules when they first get in game.

Plus, when you allow people to grief your island, it's a hard message to control. Does that mean that your island is forever open to grief? If one of those people logs off, comes back a few weeks later and decides to go back and get some more free stuff from your island, well... the permission was there, unless you revoke it later and what if some of the people are offline when you do?

It's basically just a big confusing mess all over the place that blurs the lines of the rules and can cause problems for a lot of innocent users who were just trying to figure out how to play the game. Keep the rules clean and clear, don't allow griefing.

Again, I wasn't involved in this situation, I'm just trying to clear up the logic behind why this kind of thing would be seen as bad, and as illegal.

Well, consuming out of your post, new players need to know the rules when logging on. I suggest (there were threads on this) players spawn with a book with all about skyblock. Telling them what todo if you've lost your water, been griefed, don't know the rules, and stuff like that. It really wouldn't be hard to code, if it is even code, maybe you just need to go in the server file.

Yes, my island can be griefed, I don't care, maybe I'll give the griefer some free diamonds. (Which I will 99% not do) but most griefs are explained with "I needed items". Well, greed is overtaking donators so they keep everything, so why not let the poor greenbeans not get some loot too? What you would have to do, is explain them that this is illegal, and I'm only letting you of the hook because I'm extremly nice. Others aren't.

And why this is illegal is: krissy_punk was watching over the dirt, then lagg/crashed and then some noob took it(What the mods told me) . I wanted to remove it, but seeing it was already gone, I thought krissy_punk took it.

I don't think the point is the items. I think that players will get the wrong idea, and think that griefing is ok.
Also, if you'd like to give away items, you could always do a dropparty.

Basically saying its ok to destroy his island can translate to some as its ok to grief. Basically what keeper said.
