I've been wondering for a little while now about this... Why were zombies removed from /warp mob? Or from Skyblock.net in general? I quit Minecraft for around a year or so and have only been back for a few months. I remember in the past there were zombies for Skyblock.net. Why not now? Also another section was added to /warp mob where there were ghasts, blazes and all of that which seems to have been removed but I just wonder why zombies? There is more than likely an obvious reason that someone will tell me but for now I just have no idea why... they aren't that bad, are they? ._. ~ Thanks, noah2308 ;o
Not `100% sure. All I know is zombies have a chance at dropping iron. A pretty inefficient source of getting iron, but enough to constitute as iron farming, which defeats the purpose of the iron received in kits. Same reason why we dont have zombie pigmen available most likely, because of gold farming.
Well, I guess that's fair enough. It is a little bit more boring at /warp mob though now. ;P Yet is is more quiet...
I've never understood the zombie ban. Pigzombies, yes, because of gold drops. But not regular zombies. The odds of iron are relatively low. I'm thinking as widely as possible, and can only reason that having a zombie spawner farm would be potentially unfair in terms of farming/lag production. It was a nice little reward when i was a greenbean to get an iron from a zombie in /warp mob. Solution? Not disable zombies as a whole, but rather prevent /spawner zombie. But at least have them in /warp mob, you know?
Well for whats its worth the iron issue may not even be why its banned. That just what I understood. And if thats the reason then its reasonable. Theres no harm no having zombies, and if you miss zombies, but donor and have a pet one follow you :3 Theres no problem with the current set up and i have felt that way since i joined
I agree with krissy, we don't NEED zombies at /warp mob especially since the way everything is now seems to be fine. Yet for those who were on Skyblock when there were zombies, some people would like them back (I can't see that happening though). Anyway, everything happens for a reason. Let's just go with it, for now.
From what I know, it was because of iron farming, while the chances of farming up iron was relatively low, you need to remember that prices of iron were much higher back then, worth around the same as grass, when there was no mob arena. Also, people who had access to 2-3 spawners and a mob trap basically would have an infinite but slow, supply of iron.
I worked it out a while ago and it worked out theoretically to be 2 ingots an hour, because iron has the same drop chance as all of the other rare drops, which are low as it is, it works out to be something like 1 in 50 drops 1 ingot. So year not very efficient.
