I am starting to see this a lot, people get like 2 hour to 3 day temporary bans from the console for "hacking". These days, it is nearly impossible to hack a CraftBukkit based Minecraft server (or Minecraft server period). How do lots of people get temp-bans for something they did not do by the console? The answer is simple, people log off on half slabs. A huge amount of can all agree that the console is a noob, but it is 100% unable to detect half-slabs.

Why does the console ban you?
Every time you log on, the console checks what FULL block is under you. I does not detect and half-slabs, and if there is, it "returns" blockID 0, aka air. If it shows air, it assumes you logged in with what would be /fly on, thinking you are hacking the server, banning you. You need to say /fly every time you log on if you have it to fly, the console can detect if you have /fly on if I am correct. It does not check while you are playing because you may be walking on an amazing half-slab bridge then get temp-banned, also it would really lag!

    Should I not use half-slabs?
There is nothing stopping you from using them, they are 100% legal to use. They are great for ascetics (decoration) and are resource friendly. They also are used to make "Paving Stones". Just remember not to log off on them. Also, they are used in many crafting recipes, like the chiseled sandstone and (coming in 1.8) chiseled stone bricks.

I got temp banned, what do I do?
All mods will agree that you must wait it out IF it is less than 6 hours. It is a rule in the appeals. Do not worry about getting looped temp banned, the console does allow you back for another chance. If it did not, you would be banned forever and no way to stop it without removing the console.

ZOMG! I logged off on a whole slab! What do I do?!
You are totally fine when logging off on full slabs. What are full slabs? Full slabs are two of the same slabs stacked on top of each other that take up one full block. When you break them, both break. They do register as blocks, so you are good.

Anything else I need to know?
Nothing really else is needed to be said, just remember not to log off on half slabs.
