Mac App Store - Memory Clean I find this REALLY helpful if you own a mac (coz dey suck ), it tells you how much RAM you have spare in the status bar. you can clear in-active memory to speed up your comp, Surprisingly it actually works XD wired memory- memory used by the system active memory- memory used by currently running applications inactive memory- memory was used by recently closed applications, which allows them to reopen quickly free memory - Not being used by anything
Thanks for the tip, although just as an interesting aside, having "free RAM" is a thing of the past - modern operating systems try to "predict" the applications you'll be using, and thus "preload" them into RAM for better performance. Afterall, the permise is if you have so much sitting around, why let it stay free when it can be used to speed up performance?
The underlying OS is Unix, which is a rocksolid, gold standard OS. Can't speak for the cr** they throw on top. But the basic OS kernel level RAM management is sound.
