Moderator application for Skyblock.net Hello fellow skyblocker. Thanks for taking a few minutes of your time to read my application. Regardless of whether negative or positive feedback, I will always appreciate it. My in-game name: My in-game name is Amazing_General.(Some people just call be General or Amazing.) How old are you? I am 14 years old. What time zone are you in? I am in GMT +8:00. What country do you live in? I live in Singapore, a small country in South East Asia. What languages do you speak? My main language is English and my mother tongue [2nd language] is Mandarin/Chinese. Although like many others, I can always use Google translate. Have you ever been banned (if so why)? I was forum banned for 3 days by AppleGuyPro for posting in a ban appeal. However I have learnt from this and hope you can all forgive me. Why do you think you should be a mod? -Though in the past I acted quite immature and sometimes now do but rarely, I pretty much a mature kiddo. I know when it is time to play and fool around and when it is time to be serious. -I have played this server for some time and this is pretty much the only server I play so I pretty much understand all about the rules and the does and don't which will help me a lot with the questions people will throw at me. -I will not abuse my power. I feel that the power granted to moderators should not be abused or misused. We should instead use it to help people instead of causing trouble for them. The power granted to moderators should be used to help, not to be abused. -Even though I am in different time periods from the 'peak hours', I can still help people. Sometimes, there is no mod online and people always ask for assistance. Though I try to help them, I am still limited in what I can do to help. I believe that being a mod, would better help them. -I can communicate well with most players since they are normally teens and people of the same age tend to understand each other. This will lead to better communication between me and the players. -Though some may consider this a flaw, I would like to say that I am quite forgiving. If someone who is banned pleads guilty, apologize and promise not to do it again, (No matter how serious the offense)I will be more than happy to un-ban him as I believe he had learnt his lesson and should deserve a second chance. -I am able to sympathize with players who have been griefed or scammed. Sometimes, there are these people who will be happy from others misery. Fortunately, these does not happen often but low crime does not mean no crime. I wish to help reduce the amount of scammers and griefers and stop others from being cheated. -I am not rash and will act calmly. I will see both sides of an argument before making my conclusion and actions upon it. I will listen to everybody's arguments and act accordingly. I will not only look at the evidence, I will also question people before banning anyone as I would like to prevent accidental banning. -I do not hold grudges or judge people based on their records. For example, if someone has been banned before and is unbanned I would treat him like a fellow skyblocker and not anyway different. -I will answer all calls for help. No matter what I am doing, if I am online, I will do whatever it takes to help that person. I will drop everything (literally, unless I am helping someone already, in that case I've I finished, I would help than) and rush over to help. -I understand the difficulties of being a mod. For some time now, I have been asking if anyone needs help in global chat to /m me. I have many requests, such as helping to build structures, whether I sold anything, if I was able to give them anything. -I am friendly and always willing to help. I am also a good listening ear so if any one needs someone to talk to about their trouble(s), I will be there for you. How long I can be active on the server everyday? Normally I can play for about half and hour everyday but now, I have a one week break so I will be able to help more. Do you have any past experiences as a mod? I haven't seen you in game, due to time zone differences,but your app isn't bad. The only problem I see is the half hour a day, as a lot could happen in a half hour and you would have to leave, which could present some problems. Oh, and don't add color please, it looks better black and white.
Well, though I am unable to stay online for long, I am often about on forums and will constantly check the reports section. Once I feel that there is sufficient evidence, I will hop online using minechat and have a quick chat with the accused. If I determine that he is guilty, I will ban him.
The only problem with that is, is that you aren't physically able to watch someone grief, or see someone light fires at spawn.
With minechat, I will perform mainly bans like inappropriate language or spamming or advertising etc. The rest which require me to see what is going on, I will inform in chat that there is a fire at spawn and don't do it unless you have /god etc and will notify any other mods online about the case. If there are no online mods, I will still to notify the mods that are on their computers. I am sorry that I cannot be online every hour.
I have done some deep internal self reflection and concluded that I would not be a suitable moderator. First of all, I cannot be online most of time as I need to focus more on my studies and recently I started playing with my friends hunger games. Secondly, I used to know someone who I used to helped her with building stuff. But once she became a mod, I have not been really seeing her online on .net and she talks in a 'mod' like tone, meaning she does not talk to me the same way she would talk the same way as friend, joking and chatting around. I do not wish to become like that and forsake my friends krissy_punk and yiseungjae. Thirdly I realized one of the reasons I applied to be a mod was to attain fame. Also if I became a mod, I would not be able to enjoy the game fully as my time would be taken up. To the people who supported me, thanks for your support, it is greatly appreciated. I may apply in a couple of months time again but for now, I will stay put. I hope a mod can lock and archive this as soon as possible. Thanks. General over and out.
