Sometimes I wonder: how are moderators able to see someone asking them a question in the corner of their screen, even while they're doing something? :3 let's talk about that

 

Well my mind runs on two sets. One focuses on the game whilst the other focuses on the chat.

 

They're intelligent, determined people with awesome multi-tasking skills.

... or they're all robots.

 

Learn to multi task. This kind of stuff becomes second nature.

 

I know many mods who dot even play, they just moderate.

 

It's just that I would try to build my island while I look in the chat, then I would get too glued to my building, that it would be like 10 minutes later and I'm going, "Oh crud, what just happened." xD Either that would happen or I'd be too glued to the chat and end up realizing that I just spent the last 10 minutes running around in circles.

 

And the chat goes by so fast

 

This is what my classmate would answer:

 

if you play on the server long enough you get used to multitasking/fast paced chat. .Org is not to bad, but i would never even attempt .net the chat is insane to me I'm sure its not that bad for some though.

 

Eh, I don't play at all. I just pace around waiting to help someone. I always talk in chat, and that suffices

 

I'm just binary. A string of boolean values; true or false.

You'll find that most of the moderating team doesn't really spend their time actually playing the game, so we find ourselves just participating in the general chat, and easily pick up on shouts for help. Now, providing assistance usually only takes a few minutes, and involves waiting for the player we're helping to respond to our questions, which frees up valuable seconds to respond to other help requests or answer general questions. It's really not too complicated, it just takes a little dedication and some getting used to. As you learn to provide the best possible help, slowly you'll cut the amount of time every report takes you by far, and that will - in turn - help you keep an eye on everything at once.

 

Don't forget we have Social Spy too so our chat moves like 2x quicker.

I'm unsure on anybody else but I have some sort of filter in my mind, I'll most likely not be doing anything apart from sitting on my island and I just look for keywords, however, if I am helping somebody at times when they're responding or they're showing me what the issue with I'll check through the chat, it's not too difficult once you get use to how the chat moves.
