For some reason some part of my island lag more also I have experience from other peoples island like nw_zw island. I am not sure about his username. Can you help me or move the island somewhere else? I have no spawners or animals near there too.
I get a tad more lag next to my stone gen (its auto-runs with redstone) and when i open my redstone powered sliding doors. Redstone is the #1 cause of lag only in certain parts of your island.
Since I had to address this on my own islands The No. 1 cause is alot of signs/frames (This includes signs holding up liquids and very large chest rooms) I had 850 relatively close to one another which brought my fps down to 100 whereas its normally 300-400fps. I had to address this so friends who visited wouldnt have 10fps. Signs add to your, what i call hidden entity level. However, anytime your entity level is high (f3) this significantly impacts your game performance based on pc. If you do have a lot of entities such as animals in one spot get rid of some of them. Ive done island lag test to see the effects of animal entities. Lets say on your island 200 entities could crash your game while my pc can handle significantly more. I can manage about 800 before I notice alot of lag while my friend crashed at half that. Thats just to show that entity level will cause issues isolated to your island and the performance of your pc. That is why you need to make sure your animals are not overpopulated. No. 2 Is chunk updates which include constant updating blocks due to redstone updates. It is wise to hook a lever to all your generators that include redstone. Fps loss is proportional to how much you get but less say on my 400fps id lose 20fps just on one machine constantly updating. This is the redstone running, however, when your using generator and a lot of stone ect is updating new locations this is another hit on your fps. No. 3 Reason is liquids. Liquids especially lava have a large impact on fps/lag on your island. If you have lava/water that drops all the way to the void you may way to remove it. In hellblock at least, so long as I was at least 60 blocks away from my chest room it would load a new set of chunks and the fps would restore, So I have to locate all my chest to the bottom of my map.
IGN very detailed Every issue with lag in specific parts of islands, that i have attempted to help with, came down to pistons and redstone
Nice, a lever should stop all the updates. I just wanted to include the signs since its a silent killer.
I don't have any redstone too though. D: I have A LOT of lockette signs in my chest room and there are no water or lava flowing down my island. Some people on my island didn't experience this and there are some people who experienced it too and I thought I was the only one. Animals not really but then I will have to kill me jeb_.
Im kinda ocd with storage and like to have a chest per item so it killed my fps and ruined the time with visitors since they have alot lower fps. So i think if i move all my chest at least 60-100 blocks away from where I spend most of my time i should be ok.
There is either a lot of entities on your island in one area or some blocks are constantly updating, these are the two main reasons that cause lag.
I am pretty sure it's the blocks that are constantly updating and my chest room is beneath my /home spawn which has a lot of lockette signs. I see big platforms island and they don't lag me for some reason even though they constantly update too. I am really confused.
Grass Blocks under Cobblestone also trees. I removed the bone meals and flowers but they seem not to do anything. It's basically a mainland type of island. There are no flowing water in that spot, killed all the animals, no Redstone. In that sport I only have a small lake there, my /home spawn point, and my double floor Chestroom which is under the island.
How many chest and are there large neighboring islands. Like I said I had about 850 signs about half of that was on chest and I have a very high end pc I built and just those signs alone drop my fps by over 300.
I destroyed a bunch of signs in a laggy area of my island and it worked like magic! I'm going to archive this thread now as the problem has been addressed but IGN you should totally make a thread in the "guides & how-to" section about reducing lag!
