You want the decision for Mods to be by popular vote?

They aren't representing US. They are representing their respective servers.

If it is by popularity and not ability, we get something similar to the U.S. Congress. A bunch of people with tons of power that abuse the crap out of it and don't care what kind of image they portray.

I fail to see the offense in being called 'Greenbean'.

Sounds like you're taking it a little hard.

there are positives and negatives with letting the people vote.
    good:
    • It will help crew see who is active within the server: the more you come on and chat, and help others, the more people will like you, and thus easier to tell who will make a better mod.
    • Us skyblockers see all that happens, whos been banned, who will make a good mod etc. so like above skyblockers play the server, they know best who deserves to be a mod
    • there are popular, good, helping non donors who also shine, therefore have a chance too
    • it takes the pressure off deciding between people when the choices are narrowed down.
However the bad seems to win, this is how:
    • Bias to donors: we tend to help more, but also we can use colour and things to get noticed helping
    • vote system: will everyone vote? a good election requires participation
    • popularity: school elections are based on popularity, so the same will happen on skyblock
    • the voted person may not be right for the job: just because they assist, doesnt mean they can handle becoming mod, even if they applied, and that wastes time
    • how will crew affect the final decisiona true democracy means no one interferes with votes, but crew may need to in order to find the right person for the job, crew may need to, and technically, that means that he mights as well have picked the person in the first place.

    A few end remarks

Bribing is useless because you can take the bribe, but vote for another person and they would not know the better. however what happens if a mod decides to threaten people with a ban for not voting for someone in particular? it could happen.
A new vote system would take a little time to implement, and how can one possible make people vote? freedom when on the internet, and on servers is a must, and as i said, successful voting is participation.

Heres an alternative: A poll. Every time a new tmod is ready to be picked, crew puts a poll asking who would make a good mod out of his shortlist. That can be a guide on who would make a good mod, rather than voting to decide.

    that is all

Green beans is just something we call non-donors, I think most people don't find it an offensive name

I live in australia and i think we should vote for our leaders. But mods aren't our leaders and the minecraft server is a game that should not have a democracy. if democracy is added it will never be as you imagine becuase there is no laws in place to make sure we vote and get an effective voting system running

In most cases the non donors become offensive towards donors

    You've noticed that too?
I see more greenbeans being total [omitted because children are here] than I EVER see Donors.
I think Donors feel a NEED to set the example. You don't invest money into something and then just screw it up.

Of course, there is always the exception....

Aye. The exception to the rule.

But the exception does not make the rule. Some people are stupid. Not much to be done about that.
