This forum post explains how not to be a victim of scamming, and some parts may be changed, bugged, or out of date.

Hello, most people who did trades probably got scammed in some way ,shape, or form. Scamming is usually done by the non-donors since they do not lose much finantually. They usually scam people of the rank of 50 dollar donors and above since they do more high value trades (Like spawners.)

Here are the warning signs for scammers:

• Having to talk via messages (Muting reasons).
• Offering trades too good to be true (Giving a Diamond for 10 grass).
• Not showing the item.
• Saying it can't be done through a chest. (To prevent trades WITH records.)
• Requiring payment first and no other way.
• Requiring at a public place. (Like /warp grass)

Here are some signs of reliable traders:

• Having Diamond Armor/Diamond Block head.
• Having a $25 Donor rank or above.
• Going to a private place (Like own island).
• (Suggested by xdras) See if the person is wearing "rares" (Like Emerald Blocks, Fire Blocks, Water Blocks, etc)

Here are some ways to protect yourself:

• Get the average price of the item you want/giving.
• Use a chest (Contains logs for what enters and exits.], and who did each action)
• Make sure a mod/developer is online for fast response, or you have a Skyblock Forum account.
• Record high-value trades (Like Windows Expression Encoder X, Bandicam, the new twitch.tv thing, etc.)

And if you get scammed, here is stuff you can do:

• Contact a mod that can do a refund/complete trade (Like the_dirty_ninja. Taylor1211, livvyxxxo, CubexTrain, etc.)
• Post a forum post in the reports section.
• Provide Video/Picture proof.

Make sure you remember the following when trading:

• Chests can provide logs of trades, drops can't.
• Trades are always "Do at own risk".
• The things sold from villagers can change. One thing can be worth 5 diamonds one day then be worth 3 grass the next. (And the other way around).
• Trades can also fail from faulty internet/server connection.
• Certain items are sold for more crafted than uncrafted.
• Not all mods can do a refund, ask a mod if they can do so first before asking for the refund.
• (Suggested by Dirty Ninja) If you are trading with a non-donor get crap loads of evidence in snapshots or video. If you use video, it is recommended you use one with unlimited time so you can get everything, certain traders can do that since most recorders max out at 10 minutes.
• (Also suggested by Dirty Ninja) If you are a donor who can use "/tpahere", build a room or platform with a chest or two, and locketted doors. It is also suggested to have a room hard to break through or a couple blocks from your island so they can't jump onto it, or take serious fall damage if jumping.

When "/list" is offline, you can use "/realname Mod" to see if any mods are on, so you do not need to spam the chat with "And mods on?"

Well,some guy said he was selling an enchanting table for 18 grass,and He didnt scam me haha,i got the table

 

pretty in depth good job. maybe add that if they are wearing any rares they are probably not going to scam you.

 

Not worth much since there are donors with /enchant (like me) and public enchantment tables (like the new /warp Skybase)
