Some players don't mix well, and it's been well known that sometimes the best approach is a bilateral mute of each other. But for whatever reason, this advice is not always followed. In the long term, this results in friction, and things escalate into situations that can be avoided. My suggestion is that staff can have the option to force a player ignore that only staff can remove. In practice, staff should issue two ignores, so that the ignores are bilateral, at least for most scenarios that this tool would needed on. Removal can be done thru an appeal process outside of the server. If the players have moved past their differences in a peaceful manner, maybe they can together request a removal of the bilateral mutes. This would give staff just another tool at their disposal, to be used when they see fit. And it would be a lesser punishment than lets say a server mute. But it would be a punishment that could easily stay in place for a longer time. Could easily be used as a Parole from a stronger punishment.
I don't believe this is a good thing as even if some people don't get along (I know I don't with a couple) there can be conversations on their server that both parties can contribute plus sometimes it can be hard if you only see half of convocation It could be nice to see staff have an ignore to force people but that also in consideration that most players on this server have alts and even if ignored you could jump on another account to see I'm in two places about this, but I would have to disagree. I don't think it should be added, but that's just my opinion.
Whilst I understand why people should want this. This should really be a last resort option, players themselves should be able to /ignore a player themselves without us getting involved. But for serious cases of people who just can’t get along no matter what, then yes I’d support this option, but again it’s taking more time and effort from us being able to deal with other stuff to have to deal with players who can’t be civil in a kids game.
Kids game, for the kid inside us! This would be similar to teachers ordering specific students to sit as far as possible from each other, as to minimize interaction. It's just a tool, not something that would be used every single time.
We shouldn’t have to do that, this is what people need to understand. People need to be capable of doing it themselves and be mature enough that if they choose not to /ignore a player, that instead. They can be mature enough to be civil and just not talk or respond to them. Thanks to more information from other players. Players will try avoid ignores by using alt accounts which will then make this even more pointless.
You don’t have to be an adult to conduct yourself maturely hell even many adults struggle but this should not need to be a thing. Grow up, stop beefing with people over things that literally don’t matter. /ignore the haters do what you gotta do but genuinely people need to be ashamed if they can’t control themselves and stop interacting with someone they dislike.
Remember that if everyone conducted themselves maturely and followed the rules, we wouldn't need any enforcement. These are just tools for when civilized behavior fails.
There are tools for if people can’t conduct themselves in a civilised manner, mute, ban. It doesn’t need to be more complicated than that. Wasting people’s time with “contracts” and “player to player ignores” maybe some of you need to be banned if you can’t conduct yourself with a modicum of maturity.
Unfortunately, using ignore doesn't always work. I think mcafs idea here is if players are requested to ignore each other, it should be done both ways. If one party ignores the other, but the other party doesn't ignore, then one party is still at fault. If both parties ignore each other. Then both parties have less of a chance of interacting by chat. In my wxperiance of ignoring people that are mean to me, it never stops them from being mean, because anytime they see me in chat, it riles them to respond negatively. If they ignored me, they'd have no reason to communicate towards me. I can fully ignore them, but when they get off by responsidng negatively anytime they see me in chat, that would be cause for this suggestion. Also, if staff have requ3sted players to ignore each other, then it should be set to ignore on all alt accounts and friend/partners accounts that me be used by sed player too. That's my example and experiance. And I totally agree with you, that contracts in the past had to be put in place could be seen as wasting peoples time. But then ask the question of why they'd be needed in the first place. Noone on this server should feel hated enough that they have to request specific contracts to keep them safe from others causing them harm. But that's what this servers becomming. Imo anyway. And my opinions are mine alone.
If people are being negative to you, even though you've ignored them, they should get muted tho, right?
^ We are reducing our presence in player disputes as we end up being requested to apply punishments on others when the argument/disagreement was mutual. It put pressure on staff to be mediators when it is not our role and staff being responsible for how players get along is not appropriate. For those who cannot conduct themselves properly we will use our current punishments as deterrents for those who start and participate in disruptive chat (such as arguing, which creates a toxic environment). At this time we do not need to force ignore on anyone but I am not opposed to having a command to do that in the toolbox.
Well this is my point. Just a basic example, If someone is being rude or mean towards me any time they see me talking in the chat, then I understand that me ignoring them would stop me personally seeing them being rude to me. But it won't stop those players, from continuing to be mean and rude. They can still see me. And instead now I have all my friends telling me what mean things are said. And I end up having to un ignore in order to screenshot evidence. In this scenario, me ignoring those offending me puts me in a difficult position where I cannot report the offenders and start losing friends. In this suggested scenario of ignores working both ways, [enforced by staff if needed], then neither party would see their 'offender' in chat. Very possibly leaving to both parties calming down a bit. If neither sees the other in chat, as ignore should work like, then neither has reason to start provoking and antagonising the other. In my experiance over three years, it's always been players baiting the other in response to one thing said or another. So in theory if neither sees the others neither has reason to bait respond to them in chat. And ignore should be applied to all alt and co-owned accounts too. It makes no sense to have to /ignore someone but then not ignore on other acceptable accounts. So that's my thoughts and response on this
Then ask your friends to ignore them too? Or to report them? There’s no need for you or anyone to start un-ignoring them and starting an argument… sorry I really don’t understand. Also I have no idea how you’d ‘lose friends’ over this.
Why cant we just act our age for once Skyblock? It cant be this hard to coexist with people you dont like
