The idea of pride, is sharing care and compassion about our neighbours. Friends, family. And everyone around us. A very large majority of the population gets discriminated against. Hated on, hurt, etc just for being who they are and others disagreeing or finding dislike amongst others.

The entire reason pride has become a world wide celebrated event, having its own date too, is because of the hate and dislike towards other people. You can choose not to agree with a person's lifestyle and you dont have to understand them either if their choices go against your own. But spreading hate towards others just because of who they are is stupid. Move on if you don't agree, lessen the hate amongst us a little.

Having a custom craft item for the members that support our server, and help others with kindness and compassion towards others no matter who they are would be a way to show respect to those in our server that are part of the lgbt movement , or supportive of people who are. You don't have to choose to celebrate it. Much like people who dont celebrate other holidays and events would simply ignore its going on. It would be a way to show respect though for those of us that do support the holiday. Not all of us celebrate independence day, and not everyone is Irish to support Ireland day. But we all still show that support towards each countries holidays. The UK doesn't have any holidays such as St. Georges day being supported *which would be cool, Dragon and Knight battles themed heads? and there are not any holiday events from St Patrick's day to Halloween other than the American day one. So having just one day a year dedicated to showing others kindess and friendship and respecting the battle and hardship that the majority of lgbt members go through would honor that. Skyblock is a community built up of many creative members with their own ideas and inspirations, conflicts of interests and backgrounds. But that's what builds the community as a whole.

Hopefully a staff member will remove all the irrelevant topics about war and politics

 

Nobody here opposing your suggestion is spewing hatred. That is far from the reason as to which I, and others, oppose your idea.

Again, there's actually a whole month just for that. Furthermore, nobody here is opposing pride, LGBT, etc. in itself, as far as I have seen. My point still stands: controversial, sensitive topics need not to be recognized one way or another. That doesn't mean the server isn't welcoming, it means the server stays above the confused muddle of controversy and arguments. Exhibit... this entire thread as your proof.

Let me repeat: you are more than welcome - and it would be a kind, thoughtful thing - if you or anyone else passionate about this movement held their own celebrations and events.

 

I'll be honest, I don't understand the objections. "Well it's controversial," to me seems like a reason to do it rather than a reason not to, to throw support behind a cause which is not yet universally accepted but should be.

However, it's pretty clear this suggestion isn't going to implemented and that makes me a little sad. If anyone DOES want to celebrate Pride month in style, there's at least two Eco map artists churning out artworks ready for the start of June.

 

I totally respect your perspective, and I agree that everyone should feel free to express themselves. That said, I personally disagree on this being something the server should officially implement.

As some others have pointed out, once we begin highlighting specific causes or celebrations, it opens the door to many other requests, all of which may be equally valid, but not all of which can realistically be represented. While I’d love to see more diverse holidays and causes acknowledged, it’s simply not necessary for the server itself to take an official stance on every one.

At the end of the day, this is a Minecraft server open to people of all ages and backgrounds. If something is likely to stir controversy or division, even with the best intentions, it might be wiser to avoid it in the interest of keeping the community space neutral and harmonious. That said, players here are always welcome to celebrate and organize their own events, and I think that’s a great way to show support without needing it to be an official server event.

 

I have a suspicion you think the people who are not in favor of this are either homophobic, transphobic, or overall hold a grudge against the LGBTQIA+ community.

I think the point we all want to make is most (if not all of us) are supporting of the LGBTQIA+ community. I've made friends who are gay, lesbian and trans- both in real life and on discord. Not having a head to show support for pride shouldn't be something viewed as homophobic or transphobic. That's literally like saying companies (at least in the US) are supporting pride the LGBT community by adding the pride flag on their social media platforms and at their physical locations (if they have one) only to charge the same price, if not more for the same product or service of the same quality. They're not helping the community instead just painting themselves to look good. The same thing can be said here.

As I've stated earlier in my post, we can incorporate some LGBTQIA+ heads into valentines day. Also at the time of this posting, pride month is coming up so the server would have its discord icon changed to a pride flag (not that it helps imo but it is what it is). If anything, the server could put out an announcement about being aware of pride and to encourage people to support it.
