Why was lightning disabled? I want to try to see if I can get a charged creeper, brown mooshroom, and skeleton horse for my mob museum. Can there be an option to enable it on islands?
When lightning occurs from natural thunder storms, which is the only way we would want to allow it (or from toggling the weather on your island), the sound is heard throughout the entire server. We can potentially silence the strikes entirely but that's kinda boring, we would also have to modify the drop table for mobs such as charged creepers as they can drop potential rares such as mob heads.
No support, witches could very easily be farmed this way and that would result in them nerfing yet more stuff
I'd support lightning enabled if the sound could be restricted to the local island, or turned off if needed, through random chance of a thunderstorm occuring or by channeling on tridents. Maybe it could come with a strict cooldown such as 2-10 minutes, and would have to have antispam protection for farms that get made to use channeling. Its pros would be enabling farming of new mob types, with their head drops disabled I guess. And a cool asthetic to have and use on our islands. Brown mushroom cows could be farmed for the quests and challenges, we could introduce the skeleton horses and charged creepers amongst other mobs
