Jokes aside, groundblock should be a solid block of stone encased in bedrock box 200x300x200 and should contain some ores and random blocks of dirt, sand, gravel and couple lava blocks. Starter chest would be the only air volume on the island and player would have to break their way out and carve their cavern in rock with their bare hands until they build a mob farm and other amenities. There should be no sky of any kind, ever and forever, inc. server spawn should spawn claustrophobic and oppressive.
Probably as we currently stand, that's true. However, we can't just run forever without putting bursts of high effort attempts to add more fun and challenge to the server. Usually the bigger challenge is what to add for that maximum effort per fun and longevity ratio. I think groundblock is possible with the current framework of SB plugin. The world, however, cannot be empty, it needs to be generated with ample groundblocks implemented, potentially custom generator plugin needs to be made that just endlessly generates groundblocks as new chunks are loaded. This is to prevent the schematic load impact on performance. Schematic load would only happen on island reset and only offset the difference. Otherwise the entire skyblock plugin is identical.
I agree with this, BUT, "Groundblock" would essentially be a new server, I suppose. And they shouldn't add more, without focusing on the ones they already have.
Yeah there are quite few bugs they need to iron out. They could build a groundblock server on latest version, test it's viability and performance, and use that framework to update the remainder of the server.
They can't use the framework to update the remainder of the server. When it's not even gonna be the same framework.
