Ever since the introduction of the new server that replaced classic, there have been nearly no updates or changes to player and staff ranks, the server shop, and kits. In these seven years, there have been many changes to the in-game economy, community, and other social aspects of Skyblock. This is why I am now suggesting a total revamp of Skyblock prefixes for players and staff, aswell as updates to the shop. Staff Prefixes With the return of helper and the new social media role, I thought it would be good to slightly update the prefixes themselves, mostly to fix consistency issues between them. Note the color of brackets; colored brackets are given to staff roles, with light gray brackets being given to positions with less 'power,' whilst white brackets are given to player ranks. The color of staff ranks should also be matched to their Discord and Forums counterparts for consistency. Listed: Helper, Discord Moderator, Moderator, Super Moderator, Administrator, Developer, Builder, Media
yesssss Andy these look great total support edit: I didn’t notice the discord mod tag at first, I don’t think this should be included. Seems super easy for newer players to get confused between them and a regular moderator
I am also not sure if it is the best idea to add a Discord Moderator prefix, however some persons have expressed their belief in it being added if social media team members receive a prefix too, possibly for consistency too, as they are technically staff too. I had also thought of using [DMod] but it doesn't look consistent and clean enough in my personal opinion.
This are three seperate, but related suggestions, check also: (In fear of editing the main post and causing trouble with the images, I will update this comment instead) Update to player ranks Update to staff prefixes (This post) Update to the shop
Bold of you to assume there's anyone here with a vaguely high amount of minecraft-related social media following. Highest I know of is Wilbo at 30k yt/5k twitch, but he does Animal Crossing. Otherwise, not bad changes. The fancy new full freedom to do any hex colour colours could also be used, which I think some staff member (possibly crew or matt?) said was a future possibility. (if you don't know what I mean, it's how https://skyblock.onl/gradient can do its colours)
I honestly thought the [Media] tag was supposed to be for content creators or something I think unless the role includes special abilities and permissions on the server itself, there shouldn’t be a tag for it in game (minus the builder tag)
There’s a social media team, with open applications with one of the perks being an ingame prefix. It was announced on Discord. You don’t need a following to be on the team.
This is actually something I show an example of in the update to player ranks suggestion, having new colors, gradients, or more customization in general would be a great refresh, since we have had the same limited colors for literally a decade. Maybe they could be restricted to only Skytitan/Donor in order to give this new rank(s) an extra difference between the other ranks.
I feel like if the social media team is getting an ingame rank, then dmods should as well. We might not have permissions on the server but we are still knowledgeable about it and can help players a tiny bit. We’re recognized as staff so I feel like an ingame prefix isnt that big of a deal - especially if there’s a media prefix.
Sorry trin but i have to disagree with you here Sure, dmods are knowledgeable about the server, but so are so many other people too. It just seems really unnecessary and confusing for newer players. The social media team shouldn’t have an in game tag either. And yeah, I guess it’s not a big deal, but is it actually worth adding? I don’t think so
Support for all minus the media rank & dmod rank. I know it was announced that the media team may be getting a rank in-game but personally, I think those two roles don't need a rank in-game since their contributions are outside of the in-game territory. Support otherwise. : )
I'd have to agree directly with Bree. I love my discord mod pals and I'm sure the media team will all be lovely people, but I really do think this can and will cause confusion to players in-game looking for direct support.
My argument has always been for both or none - I feel that if media rank exists ingame, dmod should get a rank as well. I’m fine with neither getting a rank, but I want it to be equal in that sense. It doesn’t feel fair if a position with less power gets an ingame rank (media) but the position with a bit more power (dmod) doesn’t. My argument isn’t saying that giving dmods an ingame rank is the only “right” choice or the end all, I’m saying it’s one of the ways to make it fair.
yeah i get what you're saying. it really wouldn't make sense for there to be a media tag and not a dmod tag
