With the post 1.13 blocks now adding to island level, the current leaderboards are not accurate and need to be updated. It's not realistic to expect all to do this themselves especially as some players have not been on line in a long time and may never do it themselves. Others are not incentivised to do this knowing that their island level will drop given gold and slime have had their values dropped heavily. Perhaps it would have been better not to disclose that fact. Unless all islands are updated, the leaderboards will never be accurate. Could this be easily achieved by setting every island level to zero, forcing everyone to run the /level command to get back on the leaderboards.
support. they technically do have an unfair advantage against anyone else attempting to reach the leaderboards
this was a great update, but i dont think it makes too big an impact since they cant place any 1.13 blocks and have them count neutral for now
my fault guys, I deleted part of what I was gonna write and then didn't look it over I was saying I don't think the level thing makes a big impact because island level won't go up if you don't do /level, so it doesn't really matter that they would appear higher because they would get passed since their 1.13+ blocks don't count.
I think it would be unusually cruel to make staff visit each island and tally up the number of blocks to calculate each player's island level. Aren't there like a million islands? Surely there's a way to automatically update all island levels.
No one has suggested that staff do that. There might be a way to automatically update all island levels but that would still require some manual intervention to kick it off. As I suggested, the easiest way might be simply to set everyone's island level to zero, then the players have to manually update their levels themselves.
I agree with wiping and resetting the leaderboards. For anyone who is still actively playing, this should not be a problem.
If they're going to go through the effort of reverting everyone's islands back to zero, they may as well just run the server command that calculates everyone's island levels automatically. The one that got removed for lag and tps improvements. That way everyone's islands is accurate. People who haven't logged on for a while as you say won't come back to a level 0 island, and it would only have to be run the once in theory? I support the idea of making sure all our island levels reflect accurately, but I don't think making everyone's island zero is the best way for that
Why though? If all it takes is rerunning the command just take the easy route and 0 everything out. Either they log back in at some point, run the command, and get their level, or they never come back and don't deserve to be on the leaderboard anyway.
To manually do all islands would be impossible for us to do. To many islands for it. Maybe there is a possible way to do it through a command. and if this gets the support maybe the devs could take a look into seeing if it is possible. It would have to set all islands back at 0 for anything to be fair.
Didn't there use to be an automatic server ping for the Isle top levels. But it got removed as it could have fallen under the p2w updates at the time and it constantly toggling would drop tps. So perhaps that can be toggled once more to automatically update everyone's island levels to the current block values that way. Each person's island would reflect accurately then and there's very little if any additional plugin codes to be written and set up if utilising a preexisting one
Honestly, I don't find this necessary enough hence the neutral rating. Imo this is only affecting the 1% that show up on /is top, and it barely is affecting anyone. Seeing as /bal top arised issues that it had to be removed, I'd bet this isn't the biggest of priorities, but either way good luck!
They’ve gone to the effort of adding level values to all the 1.13+ blocks which would have taken considerable effort. That effort is all for nothing if the island levels aren’t updated.
