    Hey everyone!
I wanted to throw out a few suggestions about the staff application process and some related things that could make it a bit better for everyone involved. This isn’t meant to criticize anything, just some ideas to help things run smoother and feel more inclusive for both applicants and the current team.

Note: Please do not be disrespectful to anyone in any way, shape or form. I will ask for any negative responses to be removed.

    1. Bring Back the Staff Advisor Role
It might be helpful to bring back the Staff Advisor role and assign it to an active staff member, ideally a Super Mod. Having someone in this role could really benefit applicants by giving them guidance on what they can improve on and how to better prepare for promotions. This way, applicants can learn and grow, rather than feeling like they’re left to figure things out on their own. It also shows that the team is invested in their success, which could encourage more people to apply.

    2. Bring Back Trial Mod
Reintroducing a trial rank, like Trial Mod, could make the promotion process feel more balanced and fair. If someone new to the role struggles to meet expectations, it’s easier to step them back without it feeling harsh or demotivating. At the same time, it gives them an opportunity to receive feedback, learn, and possibly try again in the future. This approach could help set clearer expectations for what’s needed to succeed as staff while also giving new members a chance to grow into the role. It’s a supportive system that benefits everyone involved.

    3. Revamp the Application System
The current application process can feel a bit too formal and tedious. Since there aren’t outright rejections, maybe it’s time to simplify things? We could adopt a system similar to how Discord mod applications are handled.

    For example:
When the server is looking for new mods, players are invited to apply.
From there, staff can select the people who stand out based on what’s needed.
The key here is to encourage applicants to be themselves instead of feeling like they have to put on a “perfect” front. Of course, they’d still need to follow server rules and show they’re ready for the role, but it could take some of the pressure off and make the process feel less intimidating.

    4. Make Staff Feel More Obtainable
Becoming a staff member should feel like a realistic and achievable goal for any player who’s dedicated and meets the criteria. While the current process works, tweaking it to feel more open and approachable could make a big difference. By simplifying the application process and focusing on transparency, we can help players see that being on the team isn’t out of reach. When players feel like they genuinely have a fair shot, it encourages more people to step up, helping foster a more diverse and motivated staff team.

    5. Focus on Transparency
Lastly, transparency is super important. If everyone, the applicants, players, and staff, are on the same page about how the process works, it could help build trust and reduce misunderstandings. Whether it’s outlining what’s expected from staff members or being upfront about how decisions are made, keeping things clear and open makes a huge difference.

These are just a few ideas I had, do you agree with them? I'd love for this to be a productive discussion so that we can all make this server better for everyone involved.

TMod was peak, was good to give players a chance but still allow them to remember that it's a trial period

Thank goodness someone made a thread that actually makes sense, throws valid points with good arguments and also doesn’t attack anyone specifically.

I agree with all of your points, I think ensuring that the staff application process is as transparent as possible will help to assure that staff applicants are seen and know what to work on to further develop on the skills that staff managers and other team members look for when selecting candidates.

I think bringing back the trial moderator position would be a great step to ensure that staff applicants get a sneak peek of what to expect as there is a lot of things that I feel aren’t as clear when you apply versus when you’re promoted so getting that insight and making sure the role is right for you is very helpful.

I like these suggestions! The implementation of this would help get rid of the idea that a player needs to conform to the current demographics/personality types on the staff team and it would promote some individuality and diversity :)

Being different in your approach/presentation of yourself isn't always a bad thing!
