I don't know if this is the right place to ask for single player help, but I have scoured the internet for the answers I seek and cannot find them.

As mentioned, I am playing Single Player, v 1.1. No matter what I do I cannot get passive mobs to spawn. I managed to get a single chicken from a jockey zombie, but it won't lay eggs. After about an hour of deep dive on Reddit, I found a single person who posted about a year ago saying that passive mobs won't spawn in the windswept forest biome (even though this is not true within standard minecraft function), and this happens to be the biome the island spawns in. So I tried to use the seed to find where the biomes are located, but it turns out, the coordinates for where the island is doesn't accurately reflect the actual seedmap. Windswept forest is nowhere near where the island spawns.

So my question is this, how do I get passive mobs to spawn? Do I have to bridge out and just "hope" I find another biome? I assume there is something built into the mechanics of the download file that changes the spawn biome to Windswept Forest, which asks the question, are there even any other biomes out there to find?

I feel like I'm missing something here, and any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can you take a screenshot of an area where you tried to get passive mobs to spawn with the f3 debug screen enabled?

 

you need grass and a large area i think so take the dirt from your bottom island and put it on the top platform and hoe you left grass so it spreads

 

Here is my island currently. The platform on the left is for hostile mobs (works great!). I spend nights growing/breaking trees in between killing mobs. On the right is the cobble farm, I spend days farming cobble waiting for passive mobs to spawn but they never do. Both satellite platforms are 30 blocks from the edge of the main island.

Every bit of dirt that came with the island (minus one block that I dropped DX ) is in that center cluster.

Passive and hostile mobs wont spawn within 24 blocks of a player. If you are afking where you stand, you are probably too close to the grass to allow passive mobs to spawn.

 

As mentioned above, I spend the daytime hours on the cobble farm platform, which is 30 blocks from the edge of the main island

 

Any other ideas why passive mobs won't spawn? Is it true that they just won't spawn in Windswept Forest biome?

 

I've spent about 10 in-game days in this location (roughly 40 blocks away) without approaching the grass platform at all. I have a decent supply of food now from fishing XD, but still no passive mobs spawning
