see title. if i use /friends:emsgtoggle to disable incoming DMs that doesn't disable _sending_ DMs, which is a bit of a pain. please leave /friends:emsgtoggle in, it's very useful. thanks. btw the permission node to override emsgtoggle for mods would be essentials.msgtoggle.bypass - i noticed that mods can as of right now not override it
Basically when you toggle your private messages, it only toggles messages being delivered to you. It would be good if the messages you want to send were toggled too. Sort of reminds you that your messages being received are toggled too. The staff override part of the suggestion is good also. Often staff will communicate to players via private message. If a player has their private messages toggled off, we can’t communicate with them!
i thought about it for a bit more ideally - however i'm not entirely sure how this would work with eX - we get a setting to bypass the emsgtoggle for ingame friends, too
I'm neutral atm because I'm a little bit confused how this would be beneficial, I've never used either command so don't know how they work. If you disable private messages, shouldn't that also disable then both ways? Being able to disable only incoming messages but still being able to send them, seems to be a hindsight, like, shouldn't it just disable both ways or none, ?
No support, dms are a classic part of the minecraft and skyblock experience. Use quiet mode if you don't like it
i feel my description was not up to the point, queen and abby, thus i dont quite know how to answer, let me try tho by the same logic - queen - we shouldn't have /local chat either - at least that is from how i read your reply. if there is a way to disable incoming messages - and there currently is - that thing should also disable outgoing messages while i use it. moreover, if i make it so i cannot receive incoming DMs, moderators should absolutely be able to still DM me, they're mods after all. are you argueing to remove the ability to turn that on or off altogether? it might have to do with the fact that i did answer other players' questions regularily but i get more than one DM per day with questions that could easily be asked and answered by others in public chat and this would make it so users can choose on their own wether or not they want that. currently i only have the ability to block any DMs, no matter if they're an ingame friend or not... to me that feels like i should be able to choose if i want to accept any DMs or maybe just the ones from my ingame friends. there still is /mail to contact users who dont want their DMs open.
I support this, and agree if you turn off being able to recove messages then it should include sending too. What's stopping people sending a player a message and stopping them from being able to reply in this sense. I also support this.
So - as far as i understand - you're advocating for the choice to be between: - miss all chat, server messages and DMs - because the only other option is turning off chat completely, in the client - have no control over who's able to message you at all or have /ignore be the way which is overkill to not have DMs from people I am sorry, i still dont understand your denial fully. Would you care to elaborate further? Am i overlooking an obvious way out here?
I support it i myself don't see a need for it but if it helps a few players I don't see a reason to deny it
