Hey guys! There are quite a lot of players who have been recently complaining of lag. Majority of the lag is due to alt accounts sitting at farms idling for hours at a time. A suggestion to fix the lag would be to possibly either boot players off the server or send them back to spawn. I know some players won't like the idea of this, however, it will reduce lag on the server greatly and hopefully players wont struggle with lag/lag spikes as much. Thank you - Mythical_Cat (Trucefultrees)
This is a great idea, however it can very easily be gotten around through the use of two very common mods - command macros and auto reconnect.
Is there a rule that you can only have 2 accounts online at a time? When I try to join with a 3rd account I get a message saying only 2 accounts can be online. How are players bypassing this? I think a simpler solution would be (if this is a rule or not, idk) to punish people who are bypassing it
Eco has a rule of 2 accounts per person, and violations are hard to prove. However lots of players have multiple islands with farms and afk chambers in which they pay other players to load in said farms. There is no rule against this.
Just like economy I'd really like this 2 acc limit to be applied in skyblock, Too bad the real people lagging the server won't be affected by this since they play on multiple IPs. I'd dare to say skyblock's lag has been worse than economy, understandably since we've been hitting server players cap for weeks now, even tho we have less farms around! I'm not sure how we could suggest a fix around, but maybe an items dropped clearance every 10 minutes to see if it would reduce lagg somehow? A lot of people use macros on mob grinders so they can kill and sort items afk all day, but in a result, a lot of items are dropped around and sometimes they get glitchy and won't despawn.
My suggestion would be to add additional reboots throughout the day, not only is the TPS drastically improved after the reboot it also kicks out the afks and bots. Reboots are insanely quicker than they used to be and are much more reliable so have them more often = better fresher TPS and less afk longevity.
Open for more suggestions, feel free to contribute with any ideas you might have to reduce recent lagg! Although I might agree with this, only reboot we have works because it's an inconvenient time for a lot of people to get on. It also wouldn't be a permanent fix and surely a lot of people would be annoyed at it I'd bet.
Sure but what’s more annoying a couple extra restarts or the servers TPS being 10 at best most days pre-restart.
I wish there was a long term solution for lag, but without a big upgrade to server hosting, it will always be an issue, especially with the influx of people from the skyblock trademark youtube videos. The idea for more restarts seems like the best option at this point.
Because not only does a reboot kick afks, it also refreshes the server, blows off the dust so to speak and is a less intrusive way of dealing with lag rather than directly attacking afk players. Reboots are clearly proven to improve the TPS, pre reboot TPS has usually been 10-12 after its back to 20. There is now also an influx of new players (which is great) but the server is in a new state of growth and just the sheer number of players online, afk or not, will affect the TPS overall, while kicking afks will probably help its harder to see true afk players as they are often moving or swinging swords to farm and auto kill, I don’t see it being better than adding a couple more reboots for that fresh TPS feeling.
