Suggesting and /ad command that players can use for any island advertising they do. Just place /ad before the text and it will show in chat as normal for everyone unless they have run the '/ad ignore' command. This command would be persistent like /fly. This way, only those wanting to, and new players who might benefit, will see island ads in chat. Tie this in with a rule that all island ads must be run with the /ad command.
Support, not many people know about /shops command or where they can find and buy/sell to other players and not just /warp trade.
If this could also tie in with the chat advert time limits, then this could be a fab idea. The chats could show up with a yellow /Ad: then their message as you suggest. My concern would be that without a time restriction limt, the server chat could get flooded with spam ads. It would have to be clear that you can disable the /ads messages in preferences too.
I think it would just have to have the same rule as not spamming in the chat? Hopefully people won’t abuse it and spam it all the time. Would be similar to how people do it in chat now I think. And also having the command /ad ignore would be able to help you not see it in chat.
Adblocker in skyblock is crazyyyyyyy But what's stopping players from just not typing /ad before their ads ? Why would i actively add extra text knowing itll be shown to less players overall? If you make it a rule, itll just be confusing and difficult to enforce. Besides, as mentioned above me, /shop will soon rule out any need for ads in chat (except for special items and/or sale events)
Basically 100% of economy ads are players advertising their afk money farms, which isn't exactly your typical shop.
If it’s a rule, then being warned by staff will remove any confusion and I don’t see why it would be difficult to enforce. The /shops command does nothing to stop casino advertising.
I think this is a more eloquent solution than the suggestion for a separate ad chat channel which would be useless. I don’t really see a need for this though personally because everyone has ads everyone’s selling something from items to maparts from grass to casinos. Just seems like a way for you to hide what you don’t like but also limit yourselves.
Not everyone has ads and we're hardly limited. We have /ads, 'shops find, forums trading and Discord trading. All dedicated for trading and advertising. I think chat should be dedicated to chat, where we socialise and seek help when playing the game. What I'm suggesting still allows for in game advertising but allows for people to opt out of unsolicited advertising, which is incredibly common and legally enforceable in everyday life. If someone decides they want to play a casino and don't find any on any by using /ads or checking forums or discord, they can deactivate '/ads ignore' until they find one but why should players be spammed with it all day every day.
Yeah like I said that is only my personal thought, and I agreed that this IS the best suggestion around ads so far. I still think it’s fine as is, conversations are not being choked by ads I don’t see it as a real problem, but that’s just me.
I disagree with this. I think it’s fine as is, like Leo said above, and if anything let’s just increase the advertising interval to 10 minutes on all servers to make it less spammy. Advertising is good for new players to start business, if the majority of people are automatically blocking these ads then a lot of the traffic flowing into new players’ shops will be cut.
I get your point but as soon as they make their shop, they are listed in /shops find… and I think this will be more effective than advertising in chat. Once /shops find, properly filters empty shops then this will work so much better.
I disagree because i think it would take away business because ppl wouldn't see your ad, i honestly am fine with ads and see no problem
As stated previously, there are 4 avenues dedicated to advertising and those who are fine with ads like yourself can still see them in chat. I expect at certain times, like around drop parties, webstore sales, /gifts on offer, etc. then players will disable the ad block so that they can find these sellers. It's not stopping everyone from seeing players ads, it's just stopping those who have no need, at that time for, rares, casinos, afk shops, etc. They can disable and enable ads to suit themselves.
I love the idea of advertising your business (skyblock shops/maparts/etc). It's great. However, an /ad and /ad ignore command would be wonderful, plenty of people don't want to see advertisements. When it comes to YouTube (as an example), without an Ad Block extension, you will be prompted with advertisements for all sorts of companies. YouTube has a paid premium service to remove ads. Its simple in my eyes, just add the /ad ignore command to ranks. [Skyking]+ and [VIP]+ For the ones who don't want to see chat advertisements. They can always turn it back on. Then enforce the /ad command rule as stated above. Wouldn't be too hard to enforce, and would give mods something more to do.
