Would be nice to have back if you guys want it. Cache every 24 hours to reduce stress. Probably best time to do it post reboot. Support
i just think that /baltop isn't necessary anymore because you can compare people's balances with /bal instead.
Baltop allowed you to see all players, regardless of whether you knew their name to run /bal. (For example, a relatively unknown account suddenly makes a large amount of money, unless you always check all accounts' balances you wouldn't know this)
Totally agree. With some players with suspicious incomes, this would be very handy to identify things that staff might need to look into.
The main purpose of removing /baltop was to create a less competitive environment and to be more eula compliant. Some players would use baltop as a way to track their status and/or strive to be number 1. I personally do not mind but it is apparently a problem to Mojang as they believe that features like this contribute to a pay-to-win perception, especially when selling ranks or items through the webstore.
No support i dont like how it makes others who do not have as much money small and i do not like the thought of only striving to get skybucks. (ik how it feels to be poor in skyblock because ive been there and no longer am luckily, but feel like it makes player feel bad)
So long as there is the /balance command, people track it anyway. And even without /baltop, the competition is there. It always will be. I think, those of us near the top know where we sit anyway. It’s all the other players that have no way to know how they are tracking that lose out should they want to know.
The very nature of an economy based server leads to competition, imo. I understand you have to draw a balancing line between maybe an over-zealous EULA in this regard and what the players are asking for, but I have a hard time believing the lack of a /baltop has any effect on the competitive nature of the server.
I mean, you're not wrong - although if you wanna approach the topic from that angle, we're almost certainly out of compliance with the EULA by sheer virtue of the fact that we sell non-cosmetic items, ranks, etc on a server that I'd argue is inherently competitive on some level. The presence of a /baltop is not going to affect our compliance one way or another if we're honest.
If having the greatest balance is considered winning, then I guess I'm winning but I certainly haven't paid to win. My first ever ranks on Skyblock came from vote rewards, and my progression on that server was fueled mostly by clever farming methods/designs and a lot of AFKing. The in game currency accumulated there was then exchanged for gift cards, a lot of gift cards, which were used for any ranks or purchases I made on Economy. While my trading has resulted in a lot of money spent on the server, none of it was mine. I, very much played/afk'd to win. And I suspect that is much the same for others that are doing well on this server. In fact, I don't think there are enough items in the webstore that would enable anyone to pay to win. (If winning means having a greater balance than me) So Noobcrew, If Mojang come asking, you can tell them, while paid perks might give an in game boost or improved gameplay, they have little effect on their balance as that can't be bought. It certainly won't aid them in winning, not where /baltop is concerned anyway. Also, I don't see how /baltop is all that different to /leaderboards which we still have.
You guys can write novels if you want, but if the reasoning is EULA then I’m skeptical that Noobcrew will reverse the decision. It sounds somewhat out of his hands. Many servers have removed /baltop for this very reason.
