idk if this is like necessary or anything, this could be toggleable but like i just had this random thought of it saying when someone tries to visit your island while its locked (while ur online) just like how it says when people visit and you can toggle that too, idk it doesnt have to happen lmfao but i just thought it might be cool yk ? tl:dr : be able to see if someone tried to visit you while your island was locked when youre online edit: by toggleable i meant one in settings where u can turn on or off the notification itself, maybe it can fall directly under the visit notif itself, and the other in preferences if you want people to see [your name] visited or it could say anonymous tried to visit (if possible)
I support this idea as long as it would be one that you could toggle (off by default) so those who do not want to be annoyed by seeing it wouldnt have to
I think the question that this suggestion brings up is essentially: As a community, do we value the right to privacy of the visitor or the island owner more? I would liken this to the Ring-type doorbells that can record your porch and sidewalk so you can see who comes to visit you. Personally, I think that this wouldn't be TOO much of a difference to what we currently have, since island owners already get a notification whenever someone visits them; a player who visits an unlocked island is likely already aware that the owner gets a visit notification upon their arrival. So unless you knew that an island was locked before you tried to visit, I don't see how it would make much of a difference on your willingness to visit that island. On the island owner side, this could be marginally helpful for people who forgot their islands were locked and are like "why is nobody visiting me to check out my cool new shop that I'm advertising ;( ". I'm not 100% sure on whether my facts are right though; if I got anything wrong, please let me know!
My view on this is that if vister notifications were enabled, it would allow me to know who's tried to visit my island. I block a lot of people and a lot of them have alt accounts to bypass blocks. So I learn to block those too. If I had notifications that "alt of etc" tried to visit, I'd know to block them when I unlock my island. My view of people not agreeing with this, is that they wish to visit islands without the island owner knowing, and to me that would make me think they're up to something xd I think that's pretty useful You may disagree or agree tbh I don't really mind, that's my thoughts on this so
I'm totally in support of some sort of visit history so you know who visited when you're offline, but the owner getting a notification when you didn't even set foot on their island feels quite invasive.
True which is where having an setting for your own Isle notifications could be sorted under the actual notifications gui. It would just fall under turning off Isle notifications when you lock your Isle.
Wait but how would you know that someone is an alt of X instead of some random noob wanting to craft with Abbie
