Have a voice chat with your friends in discord, have a group DM in discord, like others have mentioned devision of SB will not make things better, greenies are already ignored every day, now imagine all the established players are deep into their own chats, newbies will be alone. Also it’s another separate chat system staff will have to monitor, too much. Discord exists, use that.

 

See I disagree. I'd say it would have the same effect as local mode. Or private messaging people. If the current community feels like having a group chat mode would break the chat environment, then I'd personaly say to reconsider the way players currently talk to each other.

The idea of a friends chat mode isn't to exclude, but to actually Include more people. Say friend a is a greenie and friend b is a highroller, if there's other friends in conversation, and then you have on global chat all the spam adverts, and other greens random chat garbage, you would end up missing what they say whereas the new friends mode would make it so much easier to talk with friends.

The friends chat mode would be like /quiet but where its a /quiet with friends messages only. It would be used at times when chat is to spammed to keep up with conversations if they get cleared off screen, or could be used by people who just want a quiet working environment, but to still be able to talk and see friends in chat. Local mode works well, but only for people in your immediate area. For example i love to island hop voaiting all my froends, but often feel the need to stay in local mode to not aee chat spam when talking to people. The problem with local mode is as soon as I leave one island, I can no longer see my friend in chat. The friends local would enable me to keep talking to all my friends, with the Co.fort and peace and quiet of not having a global chat flooding the screen . There are chat mods players make that do this already which receive support, I believe sky and pillow have built similar mods that do reduce spam chats. So it's already an idea thats been trialed on the server.

I'm glad you have realised this Krissy, maybe us players could receive better support when it comes to feeling bullied on the server by others, which would result in suggestions like a safer chat environment. Unfortunately many reports aren't handled well and the hay environment gets very toxic. This is what lots of others have said before, so until the servers chat is safer foe everyone to enjoy, I think better local or friend modes is worth looking into.

The block suggestion is basically just /ignore, where the otherplayer is auto ignoring you back. That only seems the logical thing, because one way ignores don't work. But thats not linked to this suggestion, certain people ty to force that assumption over this thread.
