Like /chat Global or chat local, maybe we can add a chat friends option so it filters out anyone talking who isn't a friend. Suitable for times people want to play with friends in peace. /cf could work like local mode, but only showing other players chat if they're on your friends list, and you'd only be talking on chat friends mode. I think this could be a good idea to try

This sounds like a great way to make chat as confusing as possible for as many people as possible, all at once. It would make a fantastic April Fools prank, if Noobcrew is into that.

Anything can be missued if the player is willing to do so. That is irrelevant.

Think of it like a group chat. Players could chose to only see their friends talking in chat to filter out any spam from other players from global mode, whilst not having to be in local mode and not talking to anyone.

Players using chat friends mode can talk to other friends who aren't using it. As long as the person is on their friends list. The other friend doesn't need to be in this mode they'll see the persons chat as normal. However the person using the chat friends mode would benefit from not having so much chat flooding and could find it easier to talk to friends they didn't notice online.

this is the same thing with /ignoring people

    Player A ignored Player C
Player B is talking to Player C

Player A: you smell player b!!
Player B: so, you want free cookies?
    Player C (Ignored): sure!

I initially thought this suggestion was for what you see. Re-reading, I now see the suggestion is also that what you type goes ONLY to your friends and no one else.

This is basically the /block suggestion re-skinned, which staff have already declined.

That's kinda the idea.. for people who want a calmer chat environment, only having the friends they trust talking in chat could make it easier to communicate with other friends like a group chat but off main global chat. If the other people talk to players not in the friends list, then that's no different to a player talking to someone you have ignored. I dont think that it would exclude anyone because players talk in local mode and that doesn't affect new players? L.
This is pretty toxic way of thinking ngl. Why force the choice between talking to everyone, and talking to noone? I get it that you may not have good friends to talk with, bless, but I do. And I feel its a great idea to be able to talk with people you trust(as on friends list) without the spam of everyone else's chats.

This already happens with local chat on a somewhat regular basis when one user is in local chat and the person they're talking to is in global - it's not exactly too complicated from an outsider's perspective to see that the global person is clearly talking to someone else.

I'd wager that this'll take away from the community aspect of things especially on /skyblock because fairly large cliques of friends can more easily systematically exclude outsiders from their lucrative head/rares trades.

Sounds like a great idea but not something great when applied sadly!

Like how people have said above it'd be confusing to people who arent friended with each other and responses will be out of context and confusing...
The best alternative I could think would maybe be a party chat where you can invite people (with a limit I suppose)

Do you mean something like /party chat that the H-server has?

i dont know that server, but i assume thats like a group chat, if so then yeah something like that. its just a nice way to keep up with friends chat, in a less chat focused mode than global, but not so you can listen to people on your local isle only. personally it wouldnt bother me if i saw a friend was clearly talking to someone else outside of the /chatfriends mode, and i dont think it excludes anyone, more includes people as it encourages friends, and it means that some friends who may have missed in normal chat due to the spam of flood messages, would be more likely to be seen when talking to other friends.

to my knowledge certain trading group chats already exist within different skyblock members communites, so this really doesnt make any difference.

Hi Abbie! Basically the /party thing I was talking about essentially links the party members' chats together, kinda like how local chat works, except it only shows ur messages to the people in ur party. I've always thought it would be very convenient for sb players to be able to /party chat so u can talk in private to multiple people even when on different islands, which chat local doesn't do.

the /ignore command exists, i use it all the time to ignore people who have ads running, besides #skyblock-trading in the skyblock discord is a thing.

Your failure to interpret the main idea in many posts really amazes me

No support, seems to me like OP has such an issue socialising with the community they decide to shift the blame onto the server itself for not accomodating alternate options to communicate, shown by the slander made just three posts above this one.

please explain where i am wrong or explain the actual meaning of the "main idea" instead of making a sarcastic remark.
i especially fail to understand how this can "exclude members of the community" and "make it hard for new members to be known" so if you'd like to explain this to me im happy to hear it, maybe i'll change my mind ;)

besides im not even on this server to see half the changes so it doesn't matter if this gets implemented or not

    Sure!

Sky specifically mentioned that implementing this suggestion could lead to players systematically excluding members from chatting about rare/dp trading heads, to which you replied that skyblock-trading exists. This shows you do not understand the idea Sky was trying to describe, as skyblock-trading is a public channel specifically without the option to systematically exclude members from it at all, and therefore has no relation to the suggestion or Sky’s comment at all.

I’m not sure if you think you are quoting me but I didn’t say this and have no intention of helping you understand why people would think this, because as I already said your inability to understand ideas from posts amazes me and is indeed quite entertaining. (Not sarcastic).

Yeah that sounds really cool. I've often suggested different group features to bring friends together. Such as when a friend visits your island their playername is visiting has a simple [friends] tag to let players know when friends are visiting better, or to have a group hug option. Group chats with friends to me seems like a fun idea

I agree that this suggestion is a variation on the /block where this time instead of blocking individuals, it's blocking the entire server except a small portion.

Party chats are not needed. We already have local chat and it's enough to communicate between friends. We don't want to encourage segregating the community into smaller groups. New players will struggle to be invited to party chats and eventually people figure out when they aren't being included. It may work on other servers but we want our server to have public chat activity. A dead chat is not very promising for new players. Ultimately given the choice people will gravitate towards group chats. Discord is available for group chats, group calls and chatting to friends and is a viable option if what needs to be said between friends is too private for public chat.

As said before it is not feasible to have an all friends chat where messages are broadcasted to all people on someone's friends list. Not all people share friends so someone will get out of context and weird messages that they might not opt out of because they want to talk to other friends.

There is no issue with the way chat works apart from a few annoyances that people have gotten past just fine. The issue is people.

If this suggestion is just going to end up with people bickering because their opinions differ I will need to lock it. People agree or disagree and there is no reason to throw accusations around because of it. Its not personal.

More suggestions need to be declined. Infinite discussion tends to lead to infinite disagreements. If your words are the general consensus between staff then why doesn't the suggestion get declined?
