Only tagged as Skyblock as there may be other problems with doing it on Eco. Make it so that after placing a nether portal on your island, there is a certain x by x range of blocks claimed to you that nobody can build or destroy in. Obviously this allows for nether bases / nether building. Main reason is because right now nobody builds anything in the nether because it can (and most likely will) get destroyed. One problem that could arise is people placing multiple portals to "claim" more blocks, but I think just making a cap of 1 Nether portal on an island would fix that. Unsure how this could be / if at all implemented, but just a thought.
The actual reason no one builds in the nether is because it resets monthly to refresh the ores and generation, so people can farm it again and again.
Yeah the start of every month the nether gets reset so people can get new resources near to them, so it’s best you don’t build or keep items in the nether
If that's the case then I agree. It makes a lot of sense! Would be nice if you could have best of both worlds, but im unsure how you can reset and nether while leaving stuff in it!
Portals link up in a large radius in the nether. So if you build a portal and come out on the other end, chances are that portal is someone else's, with many overworld portals linked to it. I don't know the search radius for linking portals on skyblock but it could be over a hundred blocks (thousands of blocks in the overworld). Bases in the nether are cool to have but protection for them will overlap with other players
I gotcha. Makes sense. I also didn't think about people who combine islands by building near another person. Guess it would be an awkward idea. I didn't really think this through did I? Haha
I think similarly stopping players from building close and on/around the nether portal eould be a good idea too often I've found myself going through ny islands portal, only to be yesterday into lava in the nether void because my portals been blocked off by someone grieving it. That then makes me spawn outside of the portal, potentially into a lava drop. Stopping players from building on/around the portal obsidian would lessen the odds of getting grieved in the nether
