I wanted to propose some changes to make the DP Head Contest a lot less complicated and a lot more fair to the creators of the heads, and everyone who participates in general. I came up with these new suggestions from myself, and other players part of the contests who I will not list. 1. The players' heads that win the DP head contest get their own DP head. - This reward can bring in a lot of new contestants to make their own heads, bringing creativity to the contest as a whole! New players would want to join in and make their own heads! Here are some base down rules and things to note for this suggestion: If one of your DP heads that you created wins and is an official DP head, you get it for free. The player may choose to claim it on Skyblock OR Economy The players who win and get their DP heads can not win anything else at the DP. This is to ensure that they do not get 2 DP heads at a DP. If more than one of your DP heads wins as an official DP head, you only get to claim one of the heads. The winning players will be messaged on Discord, mailed on Skyblock, or messaged on Fourms before the DP starts to claim their DP head/choose which DP head to claim. If your head is a 1/5 OR 1/10: 1. You choose another head 2. You get the head still. (FOR #5, I need you guys to decide which one is more fair, if you have other suggestions, let me know!) The player whose head becomes the Hunt Head wins a SC of grass, or anything else! (can also be X Bal on Eco) If any player has at least ONE head that makes the final shortlist, they win 1-2 spawners (or something else, which can be on SB or Eco, ALL PLAYERS) Alts may not be used in the DP if you win your head by the DP head contest. 2. Tighter Regulations on Voting. - One problem with the system of winning, is that there may be people who try to rig it for themselves by creating multiple accounts to vote. Now I do not know if this works because I would never do that, but people have talked about it more and more, so I bring some solutions: Solution 1: Add Forums Account - In the voting form, there should be a box for you to put your forum's name in the box. To keep the votes anonymous, the mod who goes through the votes (most likely 52) will check to make sure the account is on forums, if they are not their vote is deleted. Solution 2: Add Discord Account - The same thing as above, but you must be in the Skyblock discord. Solution 3: Restriction - This idea plays like when you vote for the server to get grass and keys. Those websites have time limits to make sure you can only vote each day, so maybe something like that can be created so no matter what Google account you are on, you can not vote more than once. Now, if there are any other solutions you have, comment them below! 3. Heads MUST be in a way original. - This is to ensure that heads are not copied offline and the people who do not do any work at all end up winning. Your head MUST be original. Can not be copied offline. You may use a template as long as the template is not the whole head itself. The template also must be changed in some areas which does not make it look completely copied. Examples of Good Templates are baskets, Santa Hats, and Eggs. Examples of Bad Templates: The whole head itself, but changed a bit in some areas. 4. Expand The Themes for Each DP. - One reason people may be running out of ideas is because the theme range is too short for each dp, I have proposed some examples for each DP for themes that can be used to expand the creativity and ideas! Christmas DP Themes: Christmas, Winter, Thanksgiving, and New Years! Easter DP Themes: Easter, Spring, St. Patricks Day, and Summer! Halloween DP Themes: Halloween, Fall, School! Now here are some comments that some of you may have: "Popular players will benefit" > Not really, there have been smaller players who have won the DP before. You just got to make something that is out there! "Staff will be biased" > They do not get DP heads in the first place. A staff isn't going to vote for another staff so that the other staff wins a DP head and they don't. (May need suggestions for this) "You are just jealous." > I am not. I want the people who created the DP heads to win something for their creativity instead of just being used to add new stuff to the game. They do not get any other credit at all except during the DP. "What about the people who do not win anything?" > Then you try again next year. You can not always win. "People will get extremely competitive" > Staff can limit OR prohibit the amount of people advertising for people to vote for their heads. Overall, these new suggestions can bring so many more cool heads and creativity from the players of Skyblock, and grow the community so much more by rewarding their support!
I agree with all these points except giving the winners their own heads, it makes this much much more competitive and makes people more likely to cheat just to get DPs, spam submit many heads to increase the chance and rig the voting etc. I agree with a reward but not a DP head, it throws them all out of whack on numbers and changes prices and such.
I agree with this, the competition is supposed to be a fun contest to show ur creativity, an entire DP head worth from 1-4dcs of grass ist just a too big reward for just designing a head which takes 20 mins to a few hours. I agree that it might be a nice idea to add an ingame reward for the winners of the contest but rather something smaller like a giftcard.
Coming from someone who has designed 3 heads, I initially thought it'd be better for the creators to get the head, but I think I like the way it is now. The shortlist system is actually pretty fair and does give the community an opportunity to have somewhat of an impact on the winning heads. I don't see much purpose behind making the process overly complicated, as this is just for fun and ultimately there has to be some staff intervention to ensure all 6 that are chosen aren't super similar to one another.
