I respect the position you are in trying to create and manage these events, it’s not easy and people don’t make it easier. Again for future comps and still this one all I would be asking for is consistency. Either allow copied heads (that are unique to the server/unseen) or actually scrupulously check the heads.
The reason this happened late is because of the last minute decision to remove a different head in the finals. Again you are side stepping around actually admitting (and a child can match patterns and colours without effort, also with the evidence that has been provided already) that the candy basket design is taken from the website, agreed this shouldn’t be the time to do this but we spoke about this the very day you removed another head. It shouldn’t be on us to do the due diligence of not voting for copied heads, they should not be submitted in the first place and then they should have been removed ages ago, not like the owl in the finals… let’s hope that head doesn’t win because again no one is accepting it’s copied and the creator is being silent on the issue from the start. Zero integrity.

For future competitions I think it should be limited to one entry per person (this means they will think and work harder on one head idea than spamming multiple potentially copied heads like has happened this time), then either it’s original constructions which should be checked thoroughly; or it should just be any head not on the server but credited with a source (this will mean more heads available and ensure there are plenty of heads for future comps).

 

I agree with this too, the problem being we aren’t expecting 52 to check every pixel, you are right, but it has been called out and evidence has been provided showing a head is clearly copied with minor changes and nothing is done. It’s being thrown on us not to vote for it.

All of this from a member of staff as well. So disappointing and embarrassing it must be. For all of us too! To say staff members in our community act this way!

I’m not sure I agree with this part however, I think multiple entries are a great thing and encourage players to submit different things, how boring and annoying it would be if one had two great ideas but could only enter one. Besides why should we limit the FAIR competitors when there are only a few disgraced cheaters out there. I say you just punish them with a sort of short-term drop party ban, also sends a clear warning to anyone else who was planning on cheating.

 

I must say that I deeply understand all of your opinions, and I do respect them. If I’ve made any of you angry, mad, disappointed, I want to apologise. Although, I’d like to mention that the original thread states “make your own design and creation” which I did follow. When I created this head I wanted to make a basket, and yes I did copy a basket design of the internet. However, I only copied the basket itself, and I did the handle, some extra detail on the basket, the candy myself. Personally, I believe that the ruling of the competition itself must state “make the head from scratch, and fully your own”. As of now, there is no ruling about copying a certain part of a head and completing the rest of the design to make it “original”. I’m sorry if you feel like I took “advantage” of that ruling by copying one part of the head. I am very much open-minded when it comes to the ruling of the completion and believe that the ruling itself must change.
