me personally, when i was making my head (i even sent oak a lot of screenshots when making it) i only searched for an apple head one time because i wanted to add a shiny part into the corner and didnt know how to make it look good, but since i still couldnt make it look good even after looking at images i just completely left it out lmao, so i would say that mine is original, honestly im not sure if a bitten apple even exists

i hope next dp we will get more original heads

 

As the person who found out about the stolen heads, I would like to share how I get my ideas.
I get my idea by thinking of things that happen during Halloween or around fall that my family does, oh like smores! There is my idea!
Then for making the head, I search up a real image of it on google, put that to my side, and use it as a reference image for making my head! It is how I made my other head Toy Train, which won the 2022 Christmas DP Contest.
Just when making heads, do not get an idea and then go online to steal it, this contest is about showing off your creativity! Try your best to make it, if it does not turn out well, try making it again!

 

My bat looks similar to another bat head. I took inspiration from the head but I made it in my own way cause i had no idea how to do some parts of the bats like the ears or the color.

oh yeah i sometimes do that like the Dracula head. I searched google images for irl/cartoon dracula and took some ideas off of it

 

I entered the owl, but it being my first entry for a drop head I was more excited about having something like this entered, I'm not a skin artist, and saw many of the heads entered that looked identical, such as baskets, noone had entered an owl head before and I'd love to have seen an animal that has an autumn/Halloween theme rather than crews and baskets. Unlike other heads entered I didn't change one or two pieces to make them different, but was sure of it being a unique entry not submitted by a player before. I'm accepting of the desicion to remove this head, though disappointing I understand why.

I didn’t know who submitted this head, I was just excited for once to have a nice selection of unseen heads that aren’t crappy copies of a million baskets or crews that we usually have to sit with. Like Bert mentions submit it next year with two feathers changed colours and it falls within the guidelines… for some reason.

 

This drop party would be the first one I ever entered a drop head suggestion for.

I don't make skins or heads, I've never created something like that before. But loving animals I really wanted a Halloween/Autumn themed animal, such as a owl. Also loving owls in Harry potter helped that choice lol imagining a pet owl I could bring out with me and place when building lol

I've not seen any type of owl in the server before, so thought it was an original idea. Many other heads suggested are literally identical, all be it they've taken someone else's opinion, changed an orange pixel for a yellow pixel, and called it theirs.

I didn't do this, I searched hard for one I really liked, I kept the name as its original name, znd haven't claimed it as mine just as a suggested head that hasn't been entered before.

I've been messaged from b52, I accept her desicion to remove it iif that's going to become the case. I'll try to create something in future

 

I also never created a head myself until the 2022 christmas head competition (which was sort of a more fun submission), I just thought of an idea and started doing whatever I could think about. The longer I was creating, the better it was getting. I even used reference pictures to make it look a bit neater since it was my very first time and I had no idea how to add details or else it’d look absolutely horrible.

If you want you could just try it out yourself and you can even ask others or me if you’d like incase you’re unsure of if it looks okay or on how it works

 

Literally this is the case.

Two heads entered, are exact copies of other peiples heads, just with very tiny changes made so they can't be searched with.

Exampls as follow:


Candy basket, identical to someone else head , all that changed is the colour of one or two presents, otherwise, identical pixle for pixel.

Ghost basket, again someone else's head that's had a single colour changed for one present. These aren't original either.

 

I don't know if those would still be allowed, I have sent a pm so I'll wait to see if hopefully it can be.

I've gone back to the owl head design and changed it slightly adding more feathers to the front, a darker orange for the beak and feet qnd changed the shading of the wings either side. I also added a couple extra pixels for the feet, so that this head is unique.

 

When I discussed this with 52, they said they would only be removing heads that are exact copies and that heads with few pixels changed would be entered at a players own risk. They also mentioned that players had a choice not to vote for these heads.

I agree with it somewhat except when you can literally trace the shadows and pixels perfectly (candy basket specifically follows identical pixel patterns changing a few colours of the candy to hide it) it’s clearly a copied head. But 52 said it would be impossible to check every pixel and change.

 

I have since receiving 52s direct message advising of the disqualification, edited the owl, keeping it similar to what people voted for, but changing it just enough to be a unique head of its own. I've sent the head file via dm, and shown the updated owl here.

If it can be accepted in the place of the disqualified one that would really be great, I know now that just because a head maybe unique to the server itself, doesn't mean its allowed as an entry. But as you've said, other heads are identical pixel for pixel, just shades of colour slightly different and they've all been allowed. So I hope my updated owl can be too

Its lucky then that the ghost basket is original, and not just a preexisting head, with two colours different with the sweets.. but hey some other people get to take other peoples work and call it there's so that's cool.

 

Wasn’t Candy Basket ‘made’ by a member of staff?

 

I don’t respect any forms of copy-pasting heads for submission but if I were to chose from an owl and another damn basket with 1 pixel edited I’d take ‘your’ owl all the way.

Honestly this voting process is a complete mess and a disaster.

 

I don't think any head should be removed only because its a Crew or a Basket head, a lot of people just like them otherwise they wouldn't have won so many times in the past. I suggested the Zombie Basket, because the Pumpkin Bask and Creeeper Bask are my favourite heads, and I'd love to see a Zombie one. Yeah I looked at the Pumpkin Basket in game to do the candy, but I placed every pixel myself and I created the shape of the Zombie head and tried several different versions in game until I chose the final one. Only because there are other heads with the same style doesn't mean its copied.

 

Is there any way for us to access the original competition thread? So we can see who made each head?

I never claimed the owl was my own creation, just my own unique to this server entry.

Staff are allowed to take other peoples designs and claim it as theirs just by changing a colour pick pixel. Don't see how that's fair
