I have made three different islands for my map arts to be sold on and each time I am happy with them, but then end up getting tired of it really quickly because the idea ends up inconsistent with what I want to do and I end up with new ideas I want to show off, so I'm really trying to find a good schematic, or at least some great inspiration to go off, so I can finally build myself something that'll actually turn out really well.

I want something that can fit in a 99x99 area, but obviously not take up the entire space. I would want multiple floors to this, I'm unsure if I would want like a big mall building, or if I would like to make a skyscraper. The skyscraper idea appeals to me more, however I do believe that a mall building would suffice a lot better and be easier to make shops. I would be happy with a schematic or even being given enough inspiration to try make my own schematic once I learn how to, to then copy to be in game. I do not want to use too many blocks that are expensive to make, for example quartz and concrete, but I would be happy to use when necessary.

I am going mad because I do not know what on earth to do and it is really irritating me. I want something in which in a week I won't want to completely scrap because other builds I have been proud of, only to then... feel like they give me the ick. I know how to find good block pallets, but not how to actually USE them in a build.

I'm not really sure what I'm asking for but whatever people can offer would be amazing, such as tips, tricks, or even straight up screenshots and videos of great tutorials. When building I used to use tutorials and make minor changes as to not copy entirely, but I never took credit for it. So I feel like... okay I'm sorry I'm really not sure how to put this, but yeah! I'm straight up like "aaaaaaaaa" kinda tbh.

Whats up? Have you also built stuff and been happy at the time, only to decide it isn't that great too? Its tiring because my current design i tried to include multiple concepts and the idea worked so well, but now the island is just giving me the ick

Probably not the advice you are looking for, but I rebuilt mine 5 times until I liked how it looked. Sometimes you just gotta keep experimenting until you finally get something you want to keep long term.

Hi! Kinda late, but thought I'd put in my two cents as an also indecisive and overly self-critical builder.

If I read correctly, you want this build to be a large shop. I'd suggest that you start by planning out the extent of items you can feasibly sell. A recurring theme I see on Skyblock is that some shops are hard (or just annoying) to navigate. There's nothing wrong with having a large building, especially if you want space to expand into the future, but consider centralizing your shops to make it easier for players to find what they're looking for! This will also help you to plan out how much space you want.

Second, and I suggest this for literally any build you're trying to do, start with the absolute basic shapes. Think about how much space you want, and make a rectangle or circle outline. How high do you want the walls? What's the maximum height for the ceiling? Make more shapes. World edit is a great resource for this.

The next thing is perspectives. Take a step back after you've laid things out and think: if I'm walking through this as a non-flying player, what would I want them to see? If you'd like a "feature piece" in a certain spot (ie. a fountain, a map art display, a tree, etc.) think about how it could block sight lines.

Once you're happy with the basic shape, this is when you start applying your palette. Fill in the walls, break them up with sections, and keep putting depth where you want/feel you need it. If you feel like the shape is still too basic (ie. looking too box-y), consider pillars, arches, plants, or other "large" interior decorations like bookshelves or window sills. Another thing is, if you're unsure about how to apply a palette, a good rule is using stone-type, logs, or other "sturdy" blocks for the foundation, and wood planks or other connecting-texture blocks (i.e. terracotta, snow, smooth quartz etc.) for walls.

Lastly, small details like trapdoors, buttons, potted plants, lanterns, candles, etc. Minecraft is limited with its interior design elements, but there's no harm in experimenting. Another principle I follow for interiors is that the building itself may be symmetrical and/or contain repeating sections, but the interior decorations don't have to be. In other words, there is (ironically) a system to random placement. I try to avoid placing too many of the same things in the same "line" of each other. Maybe you place one candle. The next one could be x blocks over, x blocks back, and x blocks higher.

This is basically the breakdown of how I approach every build. I will also add that Pinterest is a great place to look for inspiration. I usually get more inspiration from there than I would from performing a Google search.

Don't be too hard on yourself! Remind yourself while you're working that you can always change things you aren't happy with and, in the beginning stages, this isn't your final product!
