Would be cool to see a plug in added to prevent players from taking too much free stuff and having the shop stop them from taking free stuff after a limit Could encourage more free item shops
Use a dispenser with a button on it. Then they have to tap for each free thing. If they really need half a stack of food, they’ll be patient. Has completely eliminated spamming from my 6ish free shops on my island. Alternatively, if you have a free food shop, for instance, make players trade something useless for it. I have a rotten flesh for food trade shop next to my public pigman spawner, for instance. I don’t think this feature is needed in the form you have suggested.
This is absolutely brilliant and I wish I'd thought about it back when I was giving away free food to green players. I had to take it down because of the sheer greed of people trying to empty me out in seconds. Great idea.
I have a mapart suggestion chest with free paper to suggest in a dispencer with button. Had ppl clear out 9 full stacks of paper on a regular. So if ppl want to clear out something, they'll just do it ^^'
I don’t believe I have been wiped out of food even once since implementing this. Perhaps you’ve had the issue because a book and quill are more “worth” stealing than food. Another way to prevent this, JustMe, is, as I mentioned, not making the books and quills completely free, even with a button. Convert this to a trade shop. If someone really wants to make a suggestion, they are probably quite willing to wrangle a stack of cobble or something else low-value to trade for a book, to then write and submit a suggestion to you. I don’t think anyone is going to find the hassle of wiping you out worth it with it set up like that.
my way for preventing this is making book and quills for like 250 per, if u really need em u can get em cheaper and if im not there then they can spend 250 on it if im there i just pay em back the 250 if i see the purchase was made, helps the draining of stuff but a suggestion like this could be nice if you could limit sales per player for a cooldown timer, even with non free items this would be a useful feature in my opinion but i can see alternatives aswell. so if they have time to implement this it can be worth it but i know the dev teams prolly swamped with stuff from the update so this would prolly be put on the back end of new things to come if so.
Its only simple paper in that dispencer. Next to it is an anvil to name the paper and a hopper chest to submit. Paper wasnt worth much with lots of sugar cane cropper farms.
Well, I guess suggestions should be written on rotten flesh then XD I see some benefits to this suggestion, but I am still ultimately neutral on it. There are workarounds to spamming free shops etc.
bumping & re-support, I recently set up some free shops and have been putting effort into filling them but it would still be nice to know that they can’t be abused
